  • Publication number: 20080289015
Abstract: The security mechanism of a product is realized in such a manner that the data, which is assigned thereto, cannot, in contrast to the remaining data of the product, be accessed from outside the product. The resetting is effected by deleting the data following an intervention from inside the product. The data DSM and DCM are preferably stored on different modules so that the security mechanism can be operated without loss of data by pulling the module on which the data are stored. As a result, transmission processes existing in a product provided in the form of a network element of a communications network are unaffected by the resetting.

  • Publication number: 20060067525
Abstract: The components of a product are identified with the aid of checksums. The checksums are in turn identified with the aid of a master checksum. Asymmetrically encrypted digital signatures are preferably used as checksums. As a result of the capability to verify the checksums it is ensured that none of the components is modified by simultaneous replacement of a component and the associated checksum.

  • Publication number: 20050277404
Abstract: Applications OLM, ETM, NML, EM of an operations system OS or, as the case may be, network elements NE of a communication network KN are manufactured with a deactivated security mechanism SM which will be activated at a later timeā€”in particular following completion of a customer-specific configuration during manufacture or during commissioning at the premises of the user of the product. This enables secure steps to be omitted at the manufacturer's facility if they are not necessary.
