  • Patent number: 5169876
Abstract: A process for producing a flame-resistant elastic soft polyurethane foam from a foam reaction component mixture of a polyol, a polyisocyanate, and a proportion of expanded graphite in the form of flakes as a flame retardant, includes initially admixing the flakes having a size on the order of magnitude of resultant foam cell walls with the polyol component. The flakes are incorporated to form at least part of the cell walls upon expansion of the foam.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 19, 1990
Date of Patent: December 8, 1992
    Assignee: Metzeler Schaum GmbH
