  • Patent number: 8456317
Abstract: A sensor module is mounted at a windshield of a vehicle. The sensor module can be connected, via a fastening section that is arranged on a module housing, to an element that is fixed to the vehicle body or to an element which is connected to a part that is fixed to the vehicle body. A sensor is accommodated in the module housing and is retained such that it can be displaced and/or pivoted from a first starting position into a second end position in order to rest against the windscreen. The adjusting movement can be initiated by an adjusting element which can be preloaded in the direction of the end position by means of a spring element and can be blocked in the starting position by means of a blocking element. Also, a delaying element is provided that can influence a parameter of the adjusting movement.

  • Publication number: 20100308094
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to improve a sensor module that is mounted in the region of a windshield of a motor vehicle in such a way that said sensor module is easier to mount and damage to the sensor during the mounting process can be prevented as much as possible. Said aim is achieved by the fact that the sensor module (2, 20) can be connected, via a fastening section (10) that is arranged on a module housing (3, 30), to an element that is fixed to the vehicle body or to an element which is connected to a part that is fixed to the vehicle body. Furthermore, a sensor (4, 40) is accommodated in the module housing (3, 30). Said sensor (4, 40) is retained such that it can be displaced and/or pivoted from a first starting position into a second end position in order to rest against the windscreen (1).

  • Patent number: 5988014
Abstract: A steering-wheel skeleton has a hub, spokes, and a rim made in one piece out of a single sheet-metal blank and provided with its final shape by separation and bending without machining. The hub is provided with a cone facing the vehicle. The spokes, which extend up and out, are provided with unthreaded bores, cutouts, or threaded bore for attaching an airbag module. A nut can, if necessary, be forced into one cutout. The hub can be reinforced by using two layers of the material.

  • Patent number: 5820159
Abstract: An assembly for manufacturing an airbag module for the passenger seat in a motor vehicle having a tubular element that accommodates a cylindrical reservoir of compressed gas and two identically shaped frontal components in the form of segments of extruded section that can be forced like hose clips against the tubular element such as to laterally demarcate space for accommodating a folded airbag against the tubular element. The upper area of the frontal components in one embodiment is openwork. Auxiliary tubes can be tensioned between the frontal components. A web of material that wraps around the tubular element can be secured to the auxiliary tubes, laterally demarcating the space for accommodating the airbag paralleling the axis of the tubular element.

  • Patent number: 5810391
Abstract: In a safety steering wheel, the ring and spokes are jacketed in a polyurethane integral foam of which the cap covering the integrated air bag unit is also made. To improve appearances the jacketing and the cap merge materially with one another.

  • Patent number: 4836576
Abstract: A safety steering wheel having an impact protector mounted on the hub of the steering wheel and which consists of a collapsed gas bag and a housing which contains a propellant for inflating the gas bag. The impact protector is covered by a cover hood, which is made of soft elastic plastic and reinforced by a reinforcing layer. In order to prevent a bulging of the cover hood by the forces which are exerted by the collapsed gas bag, a frame is provided, which is secured to the carrier for the housing which contains the propellant. The frame surrounds the housing and the gas bag and comprises at least one retaining member, which is integrally joined to the frame and attached to that edge of the frame which faces the driver's compartment. The retaining member when in a rest position extends in front of the collapsed gas bag and in the case of an impact is adapted to be bent up toward the driver's compartment along a straight line.
