  • Patent number: 5792946
Abstract: A method for dynamically balancing any one or a plurality of golf clubs wherein each club in the plurality of clubs is balanced to the same equivalent pendulum length, the present method being based upon simulating the dynamic characteristics associated with swinging any particular golf club by using the dynamic equations describing simple pendulum motion wherein the equivalent pendulum length of any particular golf club is represented by any one of the following equations: ##EQU1## where EPL=the equivalent pendulum length of the club; Q=the shaft or center of percussion length of the club; r=distance between the center of gravity of the club and the grip end thereof; and K=the radius of gyration of the club. The present method also automatically balances all clubs in any particular plurality of clubs to a common period of oscillation and is particularly adaptable for use in pendulum length balancing of graphite shafted golf clubs.

  • Patent number: 5629475
Abstract: A method for relocating the center of percussion of an assembled golf club such that it substantially coincides with the center of the club head face, the present method taking into account the weight of the particular club shaft and grip affixed to the club head, the center of gravity of the club head both before and after the club shaft and grip are affixed thereto, and the offset relationship between the center of percussion of the assembled club and the center of the club head face. In its simplest form, the present method includes determining the center of percussion location on the club head face of the assembled club, comparing such location to the center of the club head face, and thereafter specifically weighing such club head so as to move the center of percussion of the assembled club from its previous offset position to substantially the center of the club head face.

  • Patent number: 5608160

The present method also automatically balances all clubs in any particular plurality of clubs to a common period of oscillation and represents a simpler, less time consuming method for dynamically balancing such clubs as compared to the method disclosed in Applicant's U.S. Pat. No. 5,094,101.

  • Patent number: 5417108
Abstract: A method for dynamically balancing a plurality of golf clubs on a conventional swing weight scale using radius of gyration as the controlling parameter wherein a specific radius of gyration/swing weight scale designation correlation is derived for a particular set or plurality of golf clubs and, thereafter, other clubs are balanced on a conventional swing weight scale in accordance with such correlation. The present method allows a user to dynamically balance one or more golf clubs to a single, selected radius of gyration, or to a radius of gyration which is driven substantially closer to the selected radius of gyration when so balanced so as to provide improved performance, control and handling characteristics as compared to other known prior art balancing methods.

  • Patent number: 5277059
Abstract: A method for dynamically balancing golf putters using radius of gyration as the controlling parameter wherein the center of precussion location on the putter club face is re-located so as to coincide with that location where a golfer consistently makes contact with a golf ball during that golfer's natural putting stroke. The present method also allows one to reposition the golf ball contact point on the putter club face to an optimum location such that the golfer will consistently strike a golf ball at or slightly above its horizontal centerline thereby imparting optimum role characteristics to the golf ball when putting. The present method is based upon the dynamic equations describing compound pendulum motion and uses radius of gyration as the controlling parameter to balance a golf putter based upon optimal putter comfort, feel and performance during the putting stroke.

  • Patent number: 5094101
Abstract: A method for dynamically balancing a plurality of golf clubs wherein each club in the plurality of clubs is balanced to the same radius of gyration, the present method being based upon the dynamic equations describing compound pendulum motion and inlcudes the following steps: selecting a reference club having a predetermined shaft or equivalent pendulum length and an inherent radius of gyration; determining the radius of gyration of the reference club; determining the shaft or equivalent pendulum length of each club in the plurality of clubs; determining the new anticipated center of gravity location for each club in the plurality of clubs based upon the corresponding shaft or equivalent pendulum length of each such club and the radius of gyration for the reference club; and balancing each of such clubs at its respective new anticipated center of gravity location.
