  • Publication number: 20130056548
Abstract: A portable snow making tower having a base frame with spaced parallel skids for sliding engagement over a ground surface and a tow tongue for towing the base frame behind a motor vehicle. The portable snow making tower includes an upwardly extending snow making tower secured to the base frame and having snow making nozzles at its upper end for ejecting atomized water spray into ambient atmosphere for manufacture of snow in sub-freezing conditions, and water and air connectors at the lower end of tower for connection to supplies of air and water under pressure. A tower support arm is provided which has a bottom end received for axial rotation in an upright tower support pipe section secured to the base frame and the support arm has an inclined top end secured to the tower for supporting the tower in an inclined upright manner from the base frame. The tower may thus be rotated 360° in order to easily change direction of the snow making nozzles for changing wind conditions.

  • Publication number: 20130056546
Abstract: A snow making tower pipe comprised of multiple aluminum pipe segments of different diameters dimensioned whereby the segments are telescopically fitted and welded end to end with the segment of larger diameter at the lower end, and the end to end weld fittings are angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the tower pipe at an angle of less than 90 degrees to provide a maximum strength weld connection. The snow making tower ejects air and water under pressure through snow making nozzles to form an atomized plume of water in adjacent ambient atmosphere under sub-freezing conditions. Water is ejected under pressure from a projection nozzle in the form of a spray stream at a velocity greater than the ejection velocity of the plume and this water stream is directed to engage the plume and thereby project the plume outwardly farther than possible without the assistance of the spray stream.

  • Publication number: 20040046041
Abstract: In a snow making apparatus, a metal snow gun housing is provided with independent air and water chambers therein for supplying air and water under pressure. Nucleating nozzles are provided in the housing which have a mixing chamber therein with side wall apertures for access of air under pressure to the mixing chambers. Water is injected into the mixing chamber from a small water nozzle aperture which is axially aligned with an air-water nozzle aperture at the opposite end of the mixing chamber so that the water jet ejects through the air-water nozzle aperture thereby intimately mixing the air and water together to finely nucleate the water spray exiting the snow gun. The water supplying the water spray is filtered and the gun is provide with a removable access for the filter.
