  • Patent number: 4911407
Abstract: A valve seat structure and assembly for a gate, ball, globe or plug type valve adapted to enhance the high-pressure seat sealing capabilities thereof, comprised in alternate embodiments of either a single or a cooperative set of rings having either an interior or exterior geometrically configured circumferentially recessive undercut channel to provide an overhang flex-lip structure against which the closed valve plug compressively seats in flex communicative seal on one side thereof and pressurized line fluid exerts a uniformly distributed circumferential counter flexure deflective force on the other side thereof, wherein the preferred embodiment overhang flex-lip structure is provided with a radially spaced plurality of flex-limit stop posts within the undercut channel thereof whereby valve plug compressive deflection of the flex-lip is restricted to less than that amount which would exceed the permanent distortion flex limit of a particular material from which the valve seat rings are constructed.

  • Patent number: 4881420
Abstract: An improved power actuator with lost motion arrester for coupled use in accomplishing remote control, set, and set hold of rotary flow control valve adjustments wherein the lost motion arrester component is comprised of a circular rack and pinion timing gear assembly that functions to allow smooth mechanical operation during displacement of the power actuator to accomplish valve adjustment, but upon any valve adjustment set stop instantaneously provides in coupled combination with the power actuator assembly a positive mechanical lock and hold function in arresting the lost motion action by which operational adjustment and set of the power actuator mechanism is made.

  • Patent number: 4446883
Abstract: An end loaded ball valve having a fluid channel and a ball moving gate with a ball that seats against a valve seat to block passage of fluid through the valve. The valve also includes a removable retainer in the flow channel of the valve. The retainer, when in functional position in the valve, holds the valve seat in position in the valve and, when removed from the valve, allows access to the seat and the ball through the channel. The gate is designed to hold the ball during operation of the valve but to release the ball for removal through the channel for repair or replacement.

  • Patent number: 4444214
Abstract: A self-sealing and self-positioning replaceable rupture disc cartridge arrangement includes a cartridge receptacle mounted in a pressure relief vent having spaced apart opposite end walls with circumferential positioning grooves on respective internal surfaces thereof and a cartridge assembly having a rupture disc mounted therein for removable placement within the cartridge receptacle. The cartridge assembly includes an annular cartridge body having a cylindrical passage therethrough with a shoulder at one end thereof to retain disc seat rings, having the rupture disc placed therebetween, within the cartridge body. The cartridge includes seal mounting rings which have circumferential seals thereon, which are resiliently retractable into circumferential channels at opposite ends of the cartridge body, and which cooperate with the positioning grooves on the cartridge receptacle walls whereby upon placement of the cartridge within the receptacle, the seal rings snap into the positioning grooves.

  • Patent number: 4403626
Abstract: A low restriction multiple outlet valve includes a housing having an interior chamber with an inlet opening thereinto, at least two outlets, and a flow directing member. The flow directing member snugly rotates about a portion of the chamber on an axis. The flow directing member also includes at least one aperture therethrough which is spaced from the axis and which is selectively positionable so as to allow flow communication between the inlet and a selected outlet. Preferably, the flow directing member is hemispherical in shape and includes two apertures spaced 90 degrees to each other relative to the axis and the housing includes a pair of outlets spaced 180 degrees from each other relative to the axis. In addition, the valve is normally utilized in conjunction with at least one pressure relief mechanism such as a rupture disc associated with one of the outlets thereof. The valve is normally positioned so as to flow communicate the inlet thereof with the relief device.

  • Patent number: 4372334
Abstract: A control system for an overpressure relief arrangement includes a valve providing selective communication between a pressure passage connected to a pressure vessel and a pair of relief passages, each relief passage having an overpressure relief device therein; sensors for monitoring the pressure in the pressure passage, the status of the relief devices, and the position of the valve; an actuator to move the valve; and a computer to make decisions concerning the placement of the valve based upon the data derived from the sensors. The valve normally provides communication between the pressure passage and first relief passage preferably having a rupture disc therein. Upon rupture of the disc, the system pressure is monitored until it is safe to switch to the second relief passage without overpressuring the relief device therein.

  • Patent number: 3954355
Abstract: The disclosure is that of an invention directed to a rotary energy converter so constructed that it may be used either as in internal or external combustion engine, a fluid pump or as a gas or air compressor. The basic configuration consists of a stationary housing within which is rotatably mounted a disc-like primary circular rotor having a parallel-sided chamber symmetrically disposed with respect to its axis of rotation and a secondary circular rotor rotatable within the parallel sides of the chamber of the primary rotor and eccentrically affixed to a shaft that is mounted within the housing for rotation about an axis that is disposed in parallel offset relation to that of the primary rotor.
