  • Patent number: 4214396
Abstract: An aquatic fishing lure, or bait, as an article of manufacture, for use with a rod, line and hook, and usually a reel. The lure is comprised of an elongate body over the length of is extended is extended a thin, flexible dorsal fin, or membraneous-like member which, when the lure is placed in water and moved relative thereto, the fin will undulate or ripple to simulate life-like action. Generally, the fin extends over at least one-half, and preferably from about 75 percent to 95 percent of the length of the elongate body. The elongate body member is constituted of a rigid, semirigid or flexible material, and in its most preferred form is constituted of a flexible plastic material, notably worm plastic. The elongate body, in a preferred embodiment, is worm-like in appearance, and provided with striae, which provide a body of knobbed appearance.

  • Patent number: 4069610
Abstract: An aquatic fishing lure for use with a rod, line and hook, and usually a reel, in the form of a worm comprised of a slender, elongated, soft plastic material inclusive of head, body and tail portions. The body, and suitably the head and tail, is provided with a plurality of studs or projections, preferably hollow studs or projections, which extend perpendicularly outwardly to create simulated movement, and by virtue of which air is trapped, particularly within the hollow openings, to form bubbles which are evolved when the lure is cast into water to simulate live action. Preferably, the body is also hollow, and contains a rattler for creating additional live-like sounds. The worm lure is conveniently injected molded, and the invention also includes a mold suitable for the formation of stud worm fishing lures.

  • Patent number: 3958358
Abstract: A fish lure, for use in fishing with a rod, line and hook, and usually a reel, in the form of an elongated body member, and paired wings carried as bifurcated rearward projections, aerodynamically designed in arc shape. The lure preferably contains various appendages and parts, and is constructed of soft, flexible plastic such that it resembles an insect. On attachment via a line to a rod, the lure can be cast and, on movement through the air, it rotates to impart torque within the line. On striking the surface of the water, a counter-rotation is set up as the torque within the line is released, the counter-motion creating life-like or live action resembling that of a wounded insect thrashing the surface of the water, this arousing the curiosity and rapacity in fish. A hollow form of the lure also permits it to dip and dive beneath the surface of the water.
