  • Patent number: 4743136
Abstract: A link joint containing, between two component parts to be connected pivotably, a tension ring placed in corresponding cavities in the component parts extending from a pin, which tension ring, in addition to the pin on which the component parts bear with opposing bearing surfaces, encloses a tension pin which extends fully within one of the component parts and parallel to the pin axis.

  • Patent number: 4544299
Abstract: In the embodiments of the invention described in the specification, a piston and a connecting rod of an internal combustion engine have opposed approximately semi-cylindrical bearing regions partially enclosing a pin, leaving free gaps between the bearing regions to permit swivel motions of the piston and connecting rod about the axis of the pin. Two symmetrical rings which surround the pin axis retain the bearing regions against the pin. The provision of such opposed bearing regions reduces the oscillating mass of the link joint.

  • Patent number: 4440257
Abstract: A bearing arrangement for mounting a drive unit on a supporting framework of a vehicle is designed so that vibrations from the drive unit are isolated from the vehicle. The arrangement includes at least one torque bracing device for counteracting the reaction moment created by the output shaft of the drive unit by transmitting these torques to the framework. Supporting bearings intercept inertial forces of the drive unit, but in order to accomplish the vibration insulation the torque bracing device is made flexible with respect to inertial forces so as to prevent their transmission to the framework by said torque bracing device. Thus, these static or quasi-static inertial forces do not overload a spring element with a progressive characteristic that is provided in the arrangement. Inertial forces can be converted into torques by proper location of the support bearings away from the centroidal axis of the drive unit.

  • Patent number: 4417552
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, an oil pan, a sound insulating capsule and a sealing gasket connecting the oil pan to an underside of the engine block. The sealing gasket has folds for permitting a relative displacement between the engine block and the oil pan during operation of the engine. The sealing gasket is supported on a lower portion of the capsule as a component thereof, while the capsule is supported externally of the engine. A closure plate is sealingly secured to the engine block for covering an underside of the engine block. The plate has an oil return opening whose dimensions are small relative to length and width dimensions of the closure plate and the oil pan. The closure plate and the oil pan carry nipples which are in alignment with one another and to which the sealing gasket is secured.

  • Patent number: 4324208
Abstract: An internal combustion engine surrounded, at least in part, by a sound insulating casing. The casing is closed to the atmosphere with the exception of an inlet opening for receiving air for combustion in the engine. An air filter is coupled to the inlet opening for filtering the air passing through this opening into the interior of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4219002
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an engine block and an oil pan sealingly secured to one another along substantially horizontally extending mounting faces to constitute a unit and a sound-insulating capsule shrouding the engine block and having a lower terminal zone. A sound dampening mounting arrangement is provided for attaching the lower terminal zone of the capsule to the unit at the height level of the mounting faces.

  • Patent number: 4186714
Abstract: An internal combustion engine has an engine block, an oil pan and a sound insulating capsule shrouding the engine block. The engine block and the oil pan have circumferential mounting faces oriented towards one another. A mounting arrangement includes a sound dampening intermediate layer situated between the mounting faces for a noise-dampened connection of the oil pan with the engine block and with a lower terminal zone of the capsule. The oil pan is held by the lower terminal zone of the capsule and the capsule is supported by a component other than the internal combustion engine. The intermediate layer is constituted by a gasket which has at least one fold to take up relative motions between the engine block and the oil pan during operation of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 4181192
Abstract: A vehicle with energy absorbing chassis members has an engine unit attached to the chassis by severable mounts. A tension strap is provided to impede the forward motion of the engine unit on the occurrence of an accident. The tension strap exerts restraining force on the engine unit only after the severance of the engine mounts.

  • Patent number: 4073357
Abstract: A vehicle with energy absorbing chassis members has an engine unit attached to the chassis by severable mounts. Restraining means are provided to impede the forward motion of the engine unit on the occurrence of an accident. The restraining means enter into force transmitting connection with the engine unit only after the severance of the engine mounts.
