  • Patent number: 5318584
Abstract: Blood lancet device for withdrawing blood for diagnostic purposes, in which with the aid of a lancet drive (3) in a housing (1) a lancet holder (6) with a lancet (34) positioned in it and moveable along a predetermined, straight puncture path is moved until the tip (35) of the lancet emerges from the outlet (84), in order to produce a wound in a body part adjoining the outlet (84). The lancet holder (6) also serves to retract the lancet (34) into a position in which the tip (35) is again positioned within the housing (1).In order to make possible a puncture involving especially little pain, the lancet drive (3) has a rotary/sliding transmission system (4) whose input side (16) is formed by a transmission member which is rotatable about an axis of rotation parallel to the predetermined puncture path.

  • Patent number: 4838999
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for the electrochemical analysis of electrolytic components in a sample liquid (58), especially of a body fluid, with a selective measurement electrode (20) for a kind of ion to be analysed, a reference half cell, which includes a conducting-off element (30) cooperating in the operational state with a reference electrolyte (56), and a voltage measurement device (34) for the measurement of the voltage between the measurement electrode and the conducting-off element (30), wherein the measurement electrode (20) is arranged on a pipe (22) provided with a sucking-in opening (23) for the sample liquid (58), the conducting-off element (30) of the reference half cell being arranged on the pipe (22) in such a manner that it directly contacts a liquid (56) present therein, the conducting-off element (30) thereby being arranged in the pipe (22) in the sucking-in direction behind the measurement electrode (20), a sucking-in device (36) being provided through which a sample liquid (

  • Patent number: 4676952
Abstract: A photometric liquid analysis apparatus of the centrifugal analysis type uses insert elements having an elongated body, an optical measurement chamber near one end of the elongated body and a positioning trough on one side of the elongated body. The photometric liquid analysis apparatus has a rotor for rotating the insert elements to photometric means for photometric analysis of a liquid then in the optical measurement chamber of the insert element during the rotation of the rotor. The rotor has radial guiding chambers, each having an opening at an end thereof adjacent the outer periphery of the rotor and a configuration for receiving one of the insert elements with its positioning trough on a lateral side thereof and adjacent the outer periphery of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4329062
Abstract: In a polychromatic photometer a sample wheel containing angularly spaced sample compartments and a filter wheel containing angularly spaced filters are rotated by a common drive arrangement so that the sample compartments and filters are in turn rotated through and aligned with the optical path of a photometric measuring device. The number of sample compartments is different from the number of filters. The number of sample compartments and the number of filters are not evenly divisible by a common integer. The ratio of the angular velocity of the sample wheel to the angular velocity of the filter wheel is substantially equal to the ratio of the number of filters to the number of sample compartments.

  • Patent number: 4279991
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the production of reagent solutions containing a plurality of components for analytical purposes, wherein the individual components of several differently composed reagents are each introduced into a solid, proportionable carrier material in easily redissolvable form in such an amount that each part by volume or weight of the carrier material carries a definite amount of one reagent component, the carriers of the components are brought together in a magazine-like manner and, for the production of a particular reagent, from all carriers which carry a component of the reagent, there are simultaneously taken off the amounts corresponding to the required amounts of the components, which are then dissolved to form the reagent solution. Apparatus for carrying out the process is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4153513
Abstract: Enzyme substrates in aqueous liquids are continuously measured by introducing a sample containing the substrate to be determined into a current of buffer solution, reacting the substrate on an immobilized enzyme and measuring, in a measurement chamber, a physical change in the solution brought about by the reaction, wherein a current of buffer solution containing the sample to be determined is passed alternatingly (i) directly through the measurement chamber with the production of a reference signal and (ii) first over the immobilized enzyme and thereafter through the measurement chamber with the production of a measurement signal, and relating the reference signal to the measurement signal to indicate the enzyme substrate initially present.
