  • Publication number: 20230330828
Abstract: A retractable bit holder for a bit-using power tool provides storage for bits within the power tool. The bit holder has a tube that slides along a cylindrical member of the casing of the power tool between open and closed positions. A bit-mounting member extends radially outwardly from the tube and has a plurality of clip members projecting from it, the clip members being configured for removably holding bits. The bit-mounting member has a first portion arranged for holding bits at a greater distance from the tube than a second portion of the bit-mounting member, thereby providing storage of bits having a range of diameters. The bit holder is sized to provide a recess between the bit-mounting member and an internal wall within the casing of the power tool. The bit holder may optionally be contained in a bit cartridge that is detachable from the power tool.

  • Patent number: 7258046
Abstract: A retainer for constraining slidable movement of a sleeve along a shaft between open and closed positions. An end cap is fixed on the sleeve's rearward end, forming a recess between the sleeve's rearward end and the end cap. The retainer is slidable in and along the sleeve. A pair of flexible, transversely opposed ribs are provided at the retainer's rearward end. A lug projects outwardly from each rib's rearward end. A spring normally biases the ribs outwardly, biasing the lugs into the recess when the sleeve is closed to retain the sleeve in the closed position. When the sleeve is closed, application of a force to move the end cap rearwardly away from the shaft compresses the lugs inwardly, compressing the ribs against the spring and overcoming the spring's outward bias, such that the lugs circumscribe a reduced circumference permitting slidable movement of the lugs through the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6769790
Abstract: A light is mounted on each one of a plurality of movable light supporting carts. The carts are moved along a predefined path. The lights can be energized to produce light beams as the carts move. Alternatively, the lights may remain off as the carts are controllably moved along the path to position each cart at a selected location along the path, and the lights energized after the carts are position. The carts, or selected carts, can be controllably moved at a selectably variable speed or speeds and/or in a selectably variable direction or directions while the lights are energized to produce the light beams. The lights themselves can be controllably moved with respect to their respective support carts, to controllably pan, tilt, swivel, etc. each light as the carts move, thereby facilitating production of a wide range of illumination effects.

  • Patent number: 6510768
Abstract: A bit holder for a battery-powered screwdriver. A compartment is formed on one end of the screwdriver, opposite the tool bit driving end of the screwdriver. A sleeve mounted in the compartment can be slidably moved between open and closed positions. A plurality of bit holding clips are fixed around the sleeve's outer circumference. A shaft extends through the compartment. One of the shaft's ends is fixed at the compartment's forward end. The sleeve is slidably mounted over the shaft's opposite end.

  • Patent number: 6352011
Abstract: A two-ended screwdriver bit sized and configured to fit and lock in chucks that accept bits complying with American National Standards Institute specification ANSI B107.4-1982 for ¼ inch hexagonal bits. The two-ended bit has a hexagonal shank with two circumferentially-extending grooves in the screwdriver tip at each end of the shank. The length from the midpoint of each groove to the end of its adjacent screwdriver is ⅜ inches, permitting either end of the bit to be seated in a standard chuck.
