  • Patent number: 4830613
Abstract: A foot-operated starter or controller for a dental treatment apparatus possessing a patient's or dental chair and a plurality of treating instruments which are arranged in separate repositories, including actuating elements through the actuation of which there can be initiated or varied different functions of the applicable treatment location. The actuating elements are interconnected with a switching or junction circuit arrangement, which is connected in such a manner with display devices indicative of the removal of the treating instruments from their repositories, such that merely upon withdrawal of at least one treating instrument from its repository, the actuating elements serve for the regulation of the adjusted setting of the applicable treating instrument, whereas at the presence of the collective treating instruments in their repositories they serve for the setting of the adjusted positions of the dental chair.

  • Patent number: 4571681
Abstract: A switching arrangement for the control of setting or control elements which are associated with the treatment instruments of a dental treatment location, including a control data memory in which there are stored predetermined control data constants for the treatment instruments. The data is retrievable through a control component for the adjustment of the presently considered control element, and includes a first signal or voltage output arrangement which, through its supplied signals or voltages, facilitates changes in the control data which are conveyed to the control component from the control data memory. A second voltage output arrangement is connected with the control component which supplies a voltage variable from an initial or zero value, and wherein in the active switching thereof, there is prevented the receipt or delivery of signals from the control data memory and of signals or voltages from the first signal or voltage output arrangement through the control component.

  • Patent number: 4514604
Abstract: In an arrangement for converting the pressure of a pressure medium into an electrical signal, there is provided an electrical sensor 1, which is presently positionable into one of two fixed positions by a reciprocable adjusting element 3 through the alternating pressure of the pressure medium, under the concurrent electrical connection and disconnection of its contacts 4, 5. In order to maintain the constructional volume of the arrangement as well as the requirement of components as small as possible, the contacts 4, 5 of the sensor 1 are directly electrically connectible in one of the two fixed positions of the adjusting element 3.

  • Patent number: 4383167
Abstract: A circuit arrangement is provided for controlling the drive of dental treatment instruments by means of driving devices associated therewith and the operating data of which are adapted to be fed to a separate forward/backward counter when the particular treatment instrument is selected for use. A starter switch is connected to the forward/backward counter and is operable, when actuated, to vary the particular stored count of the counter step-wise for the purpose of varying the operating data and for transmission to a control element, for the control thereof, which is associated with the particular treatment instrument. Upon actuation of the starter switch in order to vary the stored count of the forward/backward counter, the counting speed of the counter is increased with increasing actuation time of the starter switch by reason of the fact that the counter receives a number of counter pulses which increase per unit time.

  • Patent number: 4305126
Abstract: A dental treatment installation comprises a plurality of dental treatment instruments, a plurality of tools having different operating parameters and replaceably mountable in the instruments, and a main control device arranged to be supplied with the operating parameters of a selected instrument and optionally with further operating parameters, and to compute therefrom the operating point for the drive of the selected instrument and also the working data of the selected tool. The main control device includes stores which store the operating parameters of the tools under corresponding tool addresses or operating data addresses for the automatic control of the combined tool and instrument operation. A tool receiving station has receiving locations in which the tools are replaceably mounted and means is provided for transmitting automatically from said station to said main control device the tool address specific to a particular tool upon extraction of the latter from its receiving location.

  • Patent number: 4180812
Abstract: A dental treatment apparatus having a plurality of dental instruments releasably retained in an instrument-holding device. A control and display arrangement controls the operation of an instrument upon extraction from the holding device, and displays the magnitude of an operating parameter of the instrument on a display device. A control data store is arranged to store pre-determined fixed control data values for the operating parameters of the instruments. To enable the user to alter the predetermined fixed values, a forward-backward counter is connected to the data store which can also store the altered values. A data converter is connected to the counter and to the display device for converting the instantaneous value stored in the data store to a corresponding service datum instantaneous value to be displayed by the display device.

  • Patent number: 4168454
Abstract: A circuit arrangement for controlling the speed of a D.C. motor, and particularly a motor for operating dental instruments. The circuit arrangement comprises a reference signal generator, a comparator which compares the reference signal with a second signal derived from the motor armature voltage to produce a regulating signal, and a regulator which is connected in the motor armature circuit and which is controlled by the regulating signal to provide a fluctuating D.C. voltage supply to the armature. A compensator is arranged to produce a correction signal which is dependent on the instantaneous motor armature current, the compensator being connected to the reference signal generator for summation of the correction signal with the reference signal. This provides for improved response in the supply of power to the motor, for example, when the motor loading is increased such as to increase the armature current but decrease the armature voltage.

  • Patent number: 4149094
Abstract: Dental apparatus having a plurality of dental instruments, holders for the instruments, signal transmitters each operable to transmit an extraction signal when an instrument is extracted from its holder, and a logic-actuation circuit for each instrument connected to a respective signal transmitter and to all the other logic-actuation circuits. Each actuation circuit can generate an actuation signal for its associated instrument, and a blocking signal for supply to the other actuation circuits, when an extraction signal is transmitted and when no blocking signal is supplied by any of the other actuation circuits. A single connecting line interconnects the actuation circuits to transmit blocking signals therebetween, and logic identification circuits associated with the actuation circuits are each connected to the connecting line and to an input and to an output of the associated actuation circuit.
