  • Publication number: 20180104865
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a fiber-reinforced thermoset composite includes pulling a first portion of a continuous material comprised of reinforcement fibers which are impregnated with a heat curable thermosetting resin through a die. The first portion in the die is subjected to a field of electromagnetic microwaves to heat the first portion to at least a curing temperature of the thermosetting resin. A second portion of the continuous material is pulled through the die. The field of electromagnetic microwaves is reduced in the die such that the second portion is not heated to the curing temperature.

  • Patent number: 9616934
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a hybrid side sill for an automobile. The hybrid side sill may includes a pultruded profile part including a continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymer, which has a heat deflection temperature of at least 200 °C., and a terminal part including steel, which is attached to an end portion of the pultruded profile part. The present disclosure further provides an automobile body including such a hybrid side sill and also a method of manufacturing a hybrid side sill for an automobile. The manufacturing method includes a step for forming a pultruded profile part including a continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic polymer, which has a heat deflection temperature of at least 200 °C., and a step for attaching a terminal part made of steel to an end portion of the pultruded profile part.

  • Patent number: 9446793
Abstract: An under-floor frame system is disclosed. In particular, a main frame made of carbon fiber composite materials forms a closed quadrangle. A center cross member made of carbon fiber composite materials runs along a width direction of a vehicle and connects middles of the both side members. Also, a front cross member and a rear cross member made of carbon fiber composite materials runs along a width direction of a vehicle and connects a front side member portion and a rear side member portion at both sides of the main frame, respectively. A center tunnel member made of carbon fiber composite materials and is extended in a width direction of a vehicle to traverse an upper space of the center cross member and connects the front cross member and the rear cross member.
