  • Patent number: 6884501
Abstract: The invention relates to a plastic article with a coating containing at least one zinc oxide-containing layer and at least one abrasion-resistant outer layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 10, 2001
Date of Patent: April 26, 2005

  • Patent number: 6710091
Abstract: A method for the preparation of nano size zinc oxide particles having an average primary particle diameter of less than or equal to 15 nm, which are redispersible in organic solvents and/or water, by basic hydrolysis of at least one zinc compound in alcohol or an alcohol/water mixture. The hydrolysis is carried out with substoichiometric amounts of base, based on the zinc compound. The precipitate which originally forms during hydrolysis is left to mature until the zinc oxide has completely flocculated. This precipitate is then thickened to give a gel and separated off from the supernatant phase.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 21, 2001
Date of Patent: March 23, 2004
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft

  • Patent number: 6600589
Abstract: The invention relates to a light-protected electrochromic device containing a pair of glass or plastic sheets or plastic films. One side of at least one of said sheets or films, preferably both sheets or films, is provided with an electroconductive coating. At least one of said sheets or films and its electroconductive coating are transparent and the other can be metallized. The electroconductive coating of at least one of the two sheets or films can be divided up into separate, individually contacted surface segments. The sheets or films are joined by a sealing ring on the sides of their electroconductive coatings and the volume created by the sheets or films and the sealing ring is filled with an electrochromic medium. The invention is characterized in that the electrochromic device contains a yellow filter for which the wavelength at which absorbance in the long-wave flank reaches half of the very long-wave maximum absorbance value is between 370 and 500 nm, preferably between 380 and 470 nm.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 2001
Date of Patent: July 29, 2003
    Assignee: Bayer Aktiengesellschaft

  • Publication number: 20020149002
Abstract: The invention relates to anionically stabilized aqueous dispersions of nanoparticle zinc oxide having a mean primary particle diameter of ≦30 nm and a mean agglomerate size of ≦100 nm, wherein the surface of the zinc oxide particles at pH values of ≧7 has a negative charge and the content of nanoparticle zinc oxide in the dispersion is 0.01 to 30 wt. %, a process for their production, as well as their use as vulcanization activators for the vulcanization of latex molded articles.
