  • Patent number: 4222184
Abstract: A ski boot comprising a base shell having a bottom sole and a calf shell; hinge means joining the calf shell at its lower end to the base shell adjacent to an ankle section of the base shell thus providing a hinged point therebetween. A traction device is provided for securing the base shell with the calf shell in clamped engagement with a leg calf of a wearer and is joined at an upper end to said calf shell above the hinge point. The traction device has opposite ends which are connected to opposite sides of the base shell at shell areas opposing an instep of the foot. The traction device further includes guides means on opposite sides of the ankle section beneath the hinge means which guide means are cooperable with said traction device for applying clamping force through the calf shell to a leg calf of a wearer.

  • Patent number: 4194309
Abstract: A ski boot is here disclosed as having a sole and a leg sheath. The sheath has a forwardly inclined axis and the boot being comprised of a relatively rigid material. A boot heel is mounted on said sole and has upper and lower heel parts. A lower heel part socket is positioned forwardly of said heel and is shaped to receive the lower heel part. A hinge connects the upper and lower heel parts in hinged assembly together with the lower heel part being operable to function to provide a support for the upper heel part when the ski boot is in a first standing position and with the upper heel part then being in overlying relation to the lower heel part. The lower heel part is swingable on the hinge to a position to one side of said lower heel part and into said socket, thus exposing the upper heel part, thus enabling the wearer to walk more comfortably.

  • Patent number: 3972134
Abstract: The skiing boot comprises an upper of plastics material and a sole integrally molded with said upper. The boot has an instep bend, a substantially stiff rear portion extending from said instep bend to the rear end of the boot, and a forward portion extending from said instep bend to the forward end of the boot. The forward portion is formed with areas of reduced wall thickness, which areas extend transversely to the longitudinal direction of the boot are disposed in at least one zone which is spaced behind the forward end of the boot and extends transversely to the longitudinal direction of the boot so that said forward portion is adapted to be bent about said zone.
