  • Patent number: 6748855
Abstract: The invention is a method and a device for blocking a stack of stacked objects. A device for blocking in accordance with the invention includes two opposed side walls which engage the stack, a pressing device which has at least two pressing elements opposite one another which contact the stack, between which elements of the stack are compressed while contacting the side walls, and charging electrodes which charge the stack, and wherein the charging electrodes are located in at least one of the pressing elements.

  • Patent number: 6445562
Abstract: The invention is a device which electrostatically charges external sides of at least one moving web. The invention includes a pair of rollers, each roller having an outer coating of limited electrical conductivity and an inner core in contact with the outer coating with the outer coating of each roller being spaced apart to define a gap through which the at least one moving web passes so that the outer coating of each roller contacts one of the external sides of the at least one web to transfer electrical charge from the outer surface coating to the moving web; and a high voltage power supply which applies electrical charge to the outer coating with one polarity of the power supply being grounded and electrically connected to a part of the core and another polarity of the power supply being electrically connected to a corona charging electrode which transfers the electrical charge to the outer coating of each roller.

  • Patent number: 6159555
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for electrostatic charging of the two outer sides of at least one material web with charges of opposite polarity, prior to the further processing of the at least one material web, with the web being guided through the nip of a pair of rollers that are parallel to one another and are arranged with a short space between them, characterized in that the electrostatic charging of the two outer sides of the at least one material web is performed by the rollers in the nip between them.

  • Patent number: 6015257
Abstract: A device for stacking objects, such as newspapers, magazines, or other stackable paper objects, on a transport table for further conveyance to another processing station, whereby the device includes a blocking device with at least one blocking device on each side of the stack and at least one charging device upstream of the blocking device for charging each object before it is stacked.

  • Patent number: 5868546
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for forming, on a conveyor table (7), a stack (6) of stacked objects, such as, for example, newspapers, magazines or the like, which stack is to be conveyed in the conveying direction. The stack is to be conveyed in the conveying direction. The stack is conveyed to a further, different workstation, for example, whilst being conveyed from a cross boom to a shrink-wrapping unit. The invention is characterized in that the stack has a blocking arrangement which comprises at least one charging electrode (11, 12) disposed in the conveying direction on both sides adjacent the stack and at least one contact roller (16) above the stack.

  • Patent number: 4835808
Abstract: A probe is employed for removing dust from moving webs, paper webs for example. It has at least one electrostatic high-voltage electrode, at least one blower for gas, preferably air, oriented against the direction that the web travels in, and a vacuum channel for suctioning up the dust-laden gas. The pointed or blade-shaped subsidiary electrodes in the high-voltage electrode (10) lie in a plane that does not parallel the web (7). The direction that the row of round and/or slotted nozzles (12) in the blower (11) blow along lies in another plane downstream of the high-voltage electrode (10). The two planes intersect at a line that lies in the plane of the web (7) and extends across it. The round and/or slotted openings (14) into the vacuum channel (13) are on the other hand positioned upstream of the high-voltage electrode (10) in the web-travel direction (8).

  • Patent number: 4686069
Abstract: The air humidifier has a blower (2), the current of air that is generated by which is blown through a plate (3) with a medium that is permeable to air and that releases moisture in order to humidify the air. An electrostatically negatively charged high-voltage electrode (5) is positioned upstream and another (4) downstream of the plate (3).

  • Patent number: 4219864
Abstract: A device for moistening and discharging electrically insulating objects, comprises, an atomizer for atomizing a liquid, such as water, into a spray and for directing the spray through a path and onto the object. The spray is directed through a path which is provided with an electrode charger or a group of chargers arranged in a pattern for charging the spray particles with a charge opposite to the object so that when they contact the object, they discharge the object as well as moisten it. The device is usable in the printing industry by passing a paper web which has been either previously printed or will be printed through a path after it has been charged with a charge, such as a positive charge, and then directing a spray onto the web after the spray moves through a series of electrodes to impart an opposite charge to the spray particles from that of the paper, so that the particles both moisten the paper and discharge the charge therefrom when they are directed thereto.
