  • Patent number: 6333008
Abstract: A measuring system and method are provided for performing luminometric series analyses on reaction components to be investigated and the liquid samples containing the magnetizable carrier particles binding the components. Sample chambers receive the liquid samples. These sample chambers are transported to a measuring station on a conveyor. Permanent magnets act on the sample chambers with magnetic fields during transport. A separating station is also provided, which is preferably equipped with a suction and rinsing device to remove the surplus reaction components separated from the carrier particles that accumulate on wall areas of the sample chambers under the influence of the magnetic fields.

  • Patent number: 6188473
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for photodetection in which measurement signals during photon-counting operation and current operation can be tapped off in parallel at a photomultiplier through two channels, one of which is a photon-counting (pulse-counting) channel and the other an analog signal transfer channel. The signals are stored continuously and processed in a microprocessor. The two-channel operation allows the dynamic range of the photomultiplier to be expanded, in which, for each time interval, the measured value for the light to be measured is selected on the basis of an adjustable range limit from the channel that operates as a photon counter or the channel that is operated in the current mode.

  • Patent number: 6018387
Abstract: The invention concerns a measuring device for carrying out of chemiluminescence and/or fluorescence measurements of fluid samples, which in sample containers (22) of a sample plate (24) are contained. For analysis of a measurement light exiting from an upper measurement opening (26) of a sample container (22) found in a measurement position, a photo-multiplier (12) is provided, which for achievement of a flat device construction is provided lying down. In order that the measurement light is redirected into the entry window (36) of the photo-multiplier (12) there is provided a reflector (16) before the photomultiplier (12) in the carrier body (14) which covers over at least the measurement opening (26) of the sample container (22) to be measured, at a distance (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5888454
Abstract: The invention concerns a measuring device for carrying out of luminescence measurements of fluid samples, with a light detector (10) which detects the light entering an aperture opening (36) of a inlet aperture (18) and a positioning device for positioning one of a multiplicity of sample vessels (20) arranged on a micro-test plate (16 with respect to the aperture opening (36). In order to prevent the spill-over of light between the individual sample vessels (20), a transverse shield (42) is provided capable of being brought into engagement with the sample plate, which in the engagement position separates the measurement opening (24) of the sample vessel (20') found in the measurement position from the measurement openings of the adjacent sample vessels (20).

  • Patent number: 4481595
Abstract: Containers pass through a radiation beam projected from a beam source to a detector. The detector output pulse rates at points where the container has passed partially into the beam and partially out of the beam are detected. Pulse rates during a measuring interval which lies between these points are divided by time units from a clock pulse generator to produce a signal representative of the average pulse rate during the interval. This signal is compared to a selectable reference signal. If a comparison is made, the comparator yields a signal indicative of whether or not material in the container was at a high enough level to attenuate the beam.
