  • Patent number: 5427672
Abstract: A planar sensor made of ceramic material, for measuring and detecting combustible gases and/or the oxygen content in furnaces or in the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, is described. The sensor has an at least five-layered structure on the basis of a combination of three zirconium dioxide layers with two aluminum oxide layers, a metallic heating resistor being embedded between two aluminum oxide layers, and three zirconium dioxide layers being combined with two platinum electrodes and one further electrode made of a binary or ternary alloy of platinum with gold, nickel, copper, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium or titanium. A process for fabricating the sensor is also described. It is also possible for the sensor to be combined, according to the invention, with a suitable housing which on its outside is provided with connecting wires and plugs for transmitting the measured signals.

  • Patent number: 4813363
Abstract: An overlock sewing machine wherein a thread which breaks between the shuttle and the looping discs is allowed to bypass the loop stripping device and is advanced by the discs toward and against the cutting edge of a knife provided on one leg of the U-shaped thread guide which confines the looping discs. This prevents the discs from convoluting the broken thread onto the shaft which drives the discs.

  • Patent number: 4540267
Abstract: Disclosed is a roll-fusing apparatus comprising an internally heated fusing roller and a pressure roller including a coated roller core which has a cylindrical inner surface and an outer surface which is extended to give a saw-toothed or scalloped, repeatedly bent configuration. The coating of the roller core comprises a silicone elastomer which has a cylindrical outer configuration, and the inside of the coating is firmly bonded to the shaped outer surface of the roller core, such that the thickness of the coating varies over the length of the roller. In the roller gap of the roll-fusing apparatus, a passage speed profile is generated which shows a minimum in each of the two external zones of the pressure roller and in the middle of the roller and the maxima of which are located in the boundary surfaces between the central zone and the left-hand and right-hand external zones.

  • Patent number: 3948493
Abstract: A process for mixing enriched dry developer with depleted dry developer in an electrophotographic copying system which includes the steps of conveying a dry developer mixture from a reservoir to a developing station, returning a substantial portion of the developer mixture removed from the reservoir to the reservoir before it reaches the developing zone and mixing it with depleted developer mixture from the developing station. An apparatus for accomplishing the process including at least one endless conveyor belt on which plates are positioned at intervals along its length projecting outwardly and mounted at right angles to the center line thereof and at least one pair of rollers upon which the belt is mounted. This apparatus also may include a cover plate for a portion of the belt. The belt may have internal serrations and be composed of soft elastic material.
