  • Publication number: 20030011397
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring the radial gap (10) between the rotor (6) and the stator (8) of an electric generator (2). The aim of the invention is to provide a method that allows an especially reliable analysis of the shape of the radial gap (10) during operation of the generator (2). To this end, a measuring cycle is carried out in the stationary and balanced operating mode of the generator at defined intervals. In every measuring cycle, current parameters (120) of the radial gap (10) are determined from current marginal values (50) of the generator (2), from current influential values (80) of the generator (2) and from current measuring data (100). These parameters are used to determine and evaluate the shape of the radial gap (10) and the distance between the rotor (6) and the stator (8) by comparing them with reference parameters. The inventive method allows to better predict when repairs have to be made.

  • Patent number: 5835886
Abstract: A method for analyzing or conditioning a measurement value identified in a system process of a measurement system and a measurement value analyzer for carrying out the method, test the measurement value for plausibility at a first comparison point with reference to characteristic variables specific to the measurement system. In order to achieve a particularly high degree of reliability when monitoring the measurement value for errors, the consistency of the measurement value with measurement parameters identified independently of the measurement value, is tested at a second comparison point with reference to rules characteristic of the system process. A confidence factor for the measurement value is identified in dependence on a result of the testing.

  • Patent number: 5701044
Abstract: In order to monitor the temperature of an electric generator, the temperatures of a plurality of rods of a stator winding of the generator being cooled by a coolant, preferably a water-cooled stator winding, are detected. In order to detect a temperature deviation in each winding rod, a measured actual or real temperature value of each winding rod is compared with a reference value for the winding rod. The reference value is derived from parameters previously determined for the winding rod by reference measurement and from presently or currently detected, operation-relevant parameters of the generator. The parameters for each winding rod are derived from a temperature of the winding rod detected during the reference measurement and from a number of functions that corresponds to the number of parameters. The functions are derived from operation-relevant parameters detected during the reference measurement in different states of operation of the generator.
