    Abstract: Image information from a region of a rectangular flat-panel device is made to appear round or nearly round by routing light from a region of the flat panel display device into the narrow end of a bundle of tapered fiber optic cables. Each cable in the bundle is tapered over its length. The taper effectively causes an image input into the narrow end to be enlarged or magnified at the opposing wider end.
