  • Patent number: 10526340
Abstract: A process for manufacturing crystals of 1,4:3,6-dianhydrohexitols, by manufacturing a solution of an internal dehydration product of at least one hexitol, distilling the solution, crystallizing, and wherein the crystallization mother liquors undergo a step of evaporative crystallization. Unlike the prior art processes that seek to recycle the crystallization mother liquors, evaporative crystallization economically and efficiently replaces the succession of steps consisting of at least one concentration, then at least one step of purification by distillation, chromatography, or crystallization.

  • Patent number: 8609872
Abstract: A dianhydrohexitol diester composition is obtained by esterifying a dianhydrohexitol composition with a carboxylic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst and hypophosphorous acid. Preferably, the hypophosphorous acid is introduced in an amount between 0.05 and 2 wt. percent of dianhydrohexitol, and in a hypophosphorous acid/acid catalyst weight ratio of less than 1/1. Dianhydrohexitol diester compositions, for example isosorbide diesters, isomannide and/or isoidide rich in diester(s), and having a low yellow index (YI), are useful in numerous industrial applications, in particular in plastic compositions.

  • Patent number: 8129549
Abstract: A method for preparing a dianhydrohexitol diester composition, characterized in that it comprises a step which consists in esterifying a dianhydrohexitol composition with a carboxylic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst and hypophosphorous acid. Preferably, the hypophosphorous acid is introduced in an amount ranging between 0.05 and 2 wt. % of dianhydrohexitol, and in a hypophosphorous acid/acid catalyst weight ratio less than 1/1. The method enables novel dianhydrohexitol diester compositions, for example isosorbide diesters, isomannide and/or isoidide richer in diester(s) and/or less colored, useful in numerous industrial applications, in particular in plastic compositions, to be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20120048146
Abstract: A process for preparing a pulverulent alditol acetal composition, which comprises a) mixing, in the presence or absence of other constituents, an aqueous alditol acetal composition having a solids content (SC) of between 40 and 75%, relative to the weight of the total aqueous alditol acetal composition, and an antioxidant in solid or liquid form or an antioxidant composition in solid or liquid form, containing one or more antioxidants, and b) drying of the mixture obtained under a). This process makes it possible to obtain pulverulent alditol acetal compositions that have improved density, particle size and flow characteristics.
