  • Publication number: 20080194261
Abstract: The present invention concerns a device for enabling the reception, by a mobile terminal located in a moving conveyance, of signals transferred in at least a first and a second cells of a wireless cellular telecommunication network composed of plural base stations, the moving conveyance moving from a first area to a second area. The device comprises means for identifying a first base station which transfers signals in a first cell comprising the first area, means for identifying a second base station which transfers signals in a second cell comprising the second area, means for obtaining signals transferred in the first and the second cells by the first and second base stations, means for combining the obtained signals into combined signals and means for transferring the combined signals to the mobile terminal located in the moving conveyance.

  • Publication number: 20080176570
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for determining if a call, in which a mobile terminal located in a cell of a base station of a wireless telecommunication network is involved, has to go through the base station, characterised in that the method comprises the steps of: receiving a command representative of a level of acceptance of calls going through the base station, obtaining a class of service associated to the call, deciding if the call has to go through the base station according to the class of service of the call and the level of acceptance of calls going through the base station.

  • Patent number: 7366095
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for admission control of connections made up of one or several flows to a shared wireless medium. It applies criteria for each new connection to determine whether resources can be provided for this connection. The criteria include the steps of: calculating a number (R) of retransmissions of frames which are needed, depending on: a target application PDU error rate (?i); a data link layer mean error rate (BER); and a maximum size (L) of the transmitted frames; calculating the achievable quality of service parameters (T?i) based on the calculated number (R) of retransmissions with the target application PDU error rate (?i), and determining if resources can be provided for the connection depending on the achievable quality of service parameter (T?i).

  • Publication number: 20080049663
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for setting up the transfer of a multimedia content in a cell of a wireless cellular telecommunication network constituted of plural cells, the cells being neighbour of at least one other cell, each cell being managed by a base station. A first base station which manages a first cell receives from a second base station which manages a second cell which is neighbor of the first cell managed by the first base station, a message notifying that the second base station transfers the multimedia content in the second cell, the message comprising at least information identifying the multimedia content. The first base station obtains the multimedia content from the wireless cellular telecommunication network and transfers the multimedia content in the first cell.

  • Publication number: 20060264179
Abstract: A wireless network comprises at least one station (102) adapted to perform measurements of at least one given type in the network, and a Centralised Measurement Manager (CMM) unit (101) for handling measurements of said type. CMM unit sends a measurement request message (201) requesting that this station (102) perform a measurement of the given type, this request message comprising a triggering information (304, 501, 601-602). Upon reception of the measurement request message (201), the station performs (202) a measurement and obtains (203) corresponding measurement result. Then, it is decided (204) whether at least part of the measurement results is to be sent to the CMM unit based on the triggering information. If yes, the station sends the corresponding part of the measurement result to the CMM unit.

  • Patent number: 6876671
Abstract: The present relates to a method for transmission of variable sized packets from an upper layer of a stack of communication protocol layers to a lower layer intended to manage fixed sized packets. According to the invention, said method comprises the steps of: forming a segmentation and reassembly layer intended to manage SAR packets, each SAR packet being made up of a header obtained in adding delineation information to the header of one of the variable sized packets of the upper layer and of a payload which contains the payload of the upper layer packet, and segmenting the flow of the thus obtained SAR packets into fixed sized packets for transmitting to the lower layer. The present invention also relates to a packet intended to be managed by a layer of a communication protocol stack between an upper layer supporting variable sized packets and a lower layer supporting fixed sized packets. It finally relates to a method for recovering a variable sized packet from a flow of such packets.
