  • Patent number: 9631365
Abstract: Disclosed is a modular building construction having interlocking wall panels that mate with one another and with the frame of the building unit without screws, bolts or other fasteners, but while ensuring a water-tight fit. This configuration significantly simplifies installation of the wall panels into the skeletal frame of the modular building unit, allowing a first wall panel to be joined to an adjacent wall panel in a quick and easy installation step while maintaining the ability to later adjust and/or replace the wall panel.

  • Patent number: 9624712
Abstract: Disclosed is a system of interlocking door frame and wall panels for modular building units. Both the door frame panel and the wall panels are provided for easy installation into the skeletal frame of the modular building unit, and are provided with mating male and female connecting edges on opposite sides of each panel. This allows the door frame panel to mate with an adjacent wall panel in the same manner in which adjacent wall panels mate with one another, ensuring a clean, finished appearance for the connecting edges, a strong, reinforced frame having long durability, and a connection having the same physical, structural integrity as the connections between adjacent wall panel units. The door frame panel itself is particularly configured to receive a traditional, commercially available steel door frame and door assembly, but allows fitment of such commercially available steel door frame and door assembly without cutting a wall panel to receive that frame.

  • Patent number: 9556612
Abstract: Disclosed is a floor assembly for a modular building unit that avoids the need to turn the floor assembly frame over for installation of a floor subsheet, and that likewise provides a modular floor subsheet that may be fitted to the modular building unit without welding, rivets, screws, or other tooling. A floor assembly frame includes side rails that form the exterior, bottom perimeter of the modular building unit, and joists that extent between parallel side rails of the floor assembly frame. The joists are configured at their base on one side with a slot configured to receive one end of a section of a floor subsheet. An opposite end of the floor subsheet is then positioned overtop the joist element that forms the top portion of the slot on an adjacent joist, which opposite end may then be held in place with a pin, clip, or other fastener requiring minimal effort to install.

  • Patent number: 9493945
Abstract: Disclosed is a connecting system for connecting wall panels to the support frame, and more particularly to the rigid corner support posts of a support frame, of a modular building unit. The connecting system includes a modular bracket assembly and is configured so that two modular connecting brackets attach to each corner vertical support column, which modular brackets are configured to receive the vertical edge of a wall panel. The brackets themselves are configured for easy replacement and/or adjustment through minimal effort, are fully symmetrical to allow use of bracket elements at varied locations, and may be replaced or adjusted particularly without removing, altering, or otherwise disturbing the corner vertical support column of the frame of the modular building unit.

  • Patent number: 9347222
Abstract: Disclosed is a roof assembly for a modular building unit that comprises a roofing sheet that is welded to the frame of the modular building unit to form a unitary, continuous sealed weld between the roofing sheet and the generally horizontal structural frame of the modular building unit, and that is pitched to downwardly direct water toward one end of the modular building unit. The welded roof assembly prevents water infiltration into the modular building unit, and such watertight structure may then receive any gutter configuration the user wishes to implement without risking water infiltration into the building unit. The welded roofing sheet avoids the use of screws or other fasteners, and the associated possibility of water leakage around the screws and into the building unit.
