  • Patent number: 8989993
Abstract: A method for controlling actuation of a control device to be integrated into a starter of a combustion engine. The device includes a solenoid controlling a position of a starter sprocket capable of being inserted into a ring gear kinematically connected to a crankshaft of the engine. The sprocket can be driven by an electric motor of the starter by closing a first switched power line between a battery and the starter. The device includes an auxiliary relay and at least one power resistor mounted in series, thus forming a second switched power line parallel to the first switched line for powering, with a supply current lower than the maximum current, the electric motor of the starter driving the sprocket.

  • Publication number: 20100138139
Abstract: A method for adjusting thermal comfort in a vehicle upon stopping and starting the engine. The method defines main conditions essentially relating to water temperature of the engine, to temperature inside the vehicle, to windshield fogging risk, and to risk of odors in the evaporator of the air-conditioning loop. The engine off period is limited on the basis of these conditions. This limitation can be implemented by a prohibition to stop the engine or by restarting the engine.

  • Patent number: 6291912
Abstract: An electric motor, in particular for motor vehicles, supports a control circuit board (7) with electronic components and including a heatsink (12) for evacuating heat radiated by some of the electronic components. The heatsink (12) is attached to a collar (11) immobilized relative to the motor (2) and surrounding the board (7) and has a housing (13) to receive at least some of said electronic components radiating heat in order to connect them to the control circuit.

  • Patent number: 6158979
Abstract: A device for fixing a motor-fan unit to a heat exchanger comprising an inner support forming a housing for fixing the motor casing of the motor-fan unit and having a lateral opening providing a passage for ancillary equipment of the motor, an outer support surrounding the inner support and adapted to be fixed to the heat exchanger and connecting armatures joining the inner support and the outer support

  • Patent number: 5512807
Abstract: A drive motor for a motor vehicle screen wiping apparatus operates with repeated reversals of its direction of rotation, and is controlled by a control circuit which is connected to a transistor arranged in the power supply path for the motor, in series with it. The transistor is put into conduction at a time, and in a manner, such as to reduce the audible noise caused by the repeated reversals.

  • Patent number: 5371445
Abstract: A system, which may be a cooling system for a motor vehicle engine, has two direct current motors together with switching circuits which provide selective connection of the windings of the two motors to a direct current voltage source in such a way as to obtain different operating modes for each motor. One of the motors has four brushes, the first of which is permanently connected to the first polarity of the source, while its second, third and fourth brushes are arranged so that they can be connected to the appropriate source polarities respectively through either three interruptors or two. The second motor has two brushes permanently connected, respectively, to the same first source polarity and to the third or fourth brush of the first motor.

  • Patent number: 5311615
Abstract: The invention provides a method of commutation control, for changing the speed of a direct current electric motor of the constant flux type, having an encapsulated inductive winding with n poles, each of which is supplied by a separate brush. In this method, a speed at a level i, where i is in the range 1 to n-1 inclusive, is obtained by connecting a group of i+1 brushes to the terminal of the direct current supply source. The state of connection of the brushes is modified in accordance with a control characteristic which comprises modifying the composition of the group of i+1 brushes to be connected in order to obtain a motor speed at a predetermined level i, and/or by interrupting the connection of one of two consecutive brushes to the brush previously connected during a speed changing operation.

  • Patent number: 5305826
Abstract: A cooling radiator for the engine of a motor vehicle includes two movable masking members associated with the same fluid manifold of the radiator and actuated by a common actuator in response to the engine temperature. A first of these masking members closes the inlet of the manifold to prevent any flow in the radiator when the engine is cold. The second masking member controls an aperture in an intermediate bulkhead in the fluid manifold so that a variable fraction of the fluid flow in the radiator is diverted (when the manifold inlet is open) through the aperture, so that it does not pass through the tubes of the radiator. This radiator performs the function of a thermostat and also regulates the cooling function at the correct efficiency according to the power being produced by the engine.

  • Patent number: 5242013
Abstract: The motor of a motorised fan unit for a motor vehicle radiator lies outside the perimeter of the radiator considered in the direction of the axis of rotation of the cooling fan, while its dimension in the same direction is at least partly superimposed on the thickness of the tube bundle in the radiator. The drive motor drives the cooling fan, which is arranged facing the tube bundle, through a drive belt. The size of the assembly in the axial direction is reduced, and the motor does not interfere with the flow of air through the radiator.

  • Patent number: 5174248
Abstract: A control box is mounted on an external wall of a heat exchanger, such as a motor vehicle engine cooling radiator, adapted for the air cooling of a coolant fluid. The control box contains a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the coolant fluid. The control box projects from the outside of the heat exchanger, with the temperature sensor projecting from the main body of the control box into the interior of the heat exchanger. The control box is arranged to switch a motorized fan unit for giving a forced circulation to the cooling air which cools the coolant fluid itself, and is electrically connected directly to an electrical supply source and to the power input terminals of the fan motor.
