  • Publication number: 20040202222
Abstract: The solid-state laser gyro of the invention comprises a solid-state resonator block, in which an optical path followed by two counterrotating waves generated by an optical-gain laser medium is defined, and, according to an important characteristic, the gain medium is attached to the resonator and is made of a rare-earth-doped crystal.

  • Patent number: 4592654
Abstract: A sight such as a gunsight for a helicopter comprises a movable assembly including a reticle generator and a single optical component which is both semireflecting and capable of collimating the image of the reticle. The movable assembly is driven by drive means under servo control to superpose the image of the reticle at an aiming point on a landscape. The aiming point may be computed to make corrections for the behaviour of a ballistic weapon. The single optical component may comprise a hologram physically in the shape of a portion of a surface of a sphere, but acting optically like a portion of the surface of a paraboloid. The optical component may be fixed to the reticle generator by mechanical fixing means which mask the field of view around the optical component very little.

  • Patent number: 4360876
Abstract: An indicator system satisfies multiple flight-mission requirements by providing an aircraft pilot with a visual display consisting of a movable map and navigational data. The map is stored in video form in a high-capacity compact mass memory consisting of a video disk. The system further comprises a symbol and character generator as well as an intermediate memory which has a capacity larger than required for the map-zone image to be displayed together with navigation symbols on a television monitor. The unit is controlled by a microprocessor on the basis of data relating to latitude, longitude and heading of the aircraft in order to refresh the intermediate memory and to obtain an image displayed with a "top-north" or "top-heading" orientation.

  • Patent number: 4138726
Abstract: An airborne arrangement for displaying a moving map and aerial-navigation data such as symbols and characters on an electronic display screen is disclosed. It comprises a video map generator for converting the map to be displayed, carried on a film, into a video signal of the television type, a symbol generator which produces signals of the navigational data to be displayed with random scan, and an oscilloscope provided with switching circuits for consecutively displaying these items in the course of each frame cycle.
