Abstract: The device consists of two separate parts: a stationary unit (12) which contains a motor (16) and vacuum pump (14), and a mobile head (20) with a power-supply switch for the motor and an aspirating nozzle designed to fit over the valve (32) in the lid of an airtight container (28, 30). The mobile head connects to the stationary unit with two flexible coaxial spiral cords, consisting of a hose (22) linking the vacuum pump and aspirating nozzle, and a power cord (36) linking the switch to the electrical motor. Both lines can easily be stretched together from the storage position, in which the mobile head sits on the stationary unit, to active mode, in which the suction effect keeps the mobile head coupled to the container.

The dispenser is characterized in that at least one detachable additional compartment (5), comprising locking means (501, 502) and fasteners (503, 504) and forming a storage space for a given type of tablets, is detachably attached to the main module (2). The locking means (501) and the fasteners (503) of the preceding compartment cooperate with respectively the fasteners (504) and locking means (502) of the next additional compartment. Abstract: An electronic pocket pillbox having multiple detachable compartments each fitted with a unit-medication dispenser for different medication sizes and pharmaceutical forms is formed by a physician writing a prescription with a computer having a display and responsive to a keyboard and mouse. The computer codes and loads a prescription file into a memory of a detachable data medium, similar to a smart card. The card is put into the pillbox to supply signals to electronic circuitry in the pillbox. Each pillbox compartment is filled by a pharmacist with a number of pills of a type defined by the prescription. The pharmacist assembles the compartments to form the pillbox. The pillbox electronic circuitry responds to the detachable data medium memory to derive medication alarm signals to advise a pillbox user to take the medication.
