Abstract: A method for managing, in a terminal, the reading of a multimedia content item, referred to as a main content item, with a view to rendering it. The content item includes time segments which may be received from a communication network. The reading of the main content item is interspersed with a reading of a multimedia content item, referred to as a secondary content item. The method further includes: requesting access to the main content item; detecting an interval between the instant at which a segment of the main content item is rendered and a reference instant at which the same segment is rendered; and modifying the reading speed used by the terminal when the secondary content item is read.

Abstract: A method is described for remotely managing a piece of network connection equipment in order to deploy a firmware. The method includes generating connection data of the equipment to the network over a predetermined period of time, determining, on a remote management server, a time slot, specific to the equipment, for downloading the firmware depending on these the generated connection data, transmitting, to the equipment, information relating to the time slot specific to this equipment and to an address of a download server, sending, from the equipment, a request for downloading the firmware to the download server, sending, from the download server, firmware download data to the equipment, and downloading the firmware during the time slot specific to the equipment.

Abstract: A method for managing zapping from a first digital content to a second digital content is disclosed. The first and second digital contents are obtained by HTTP adaptive streaming by a multimedia stream reader terminal and are each associated with a description file comprising a list of time segments of the content, each time segment being associated with multiple encoding rates of the content. The zapping management method involves: receiving a request to zap from the first digital content to the second digital content; obtaining the description file of the second digital content; selecting a rate for encoding a first time segment of the second digital content to be downloaded, on the basis of a resource constraint obtained by the multimedia stream reader terminal and on the basis of a target zapping time; and downloading the first time segment of the second digital content at the selected rate.

Abstract: A method for managing streaming of a digital content item within a multimedia content reader terminal, from a communication network. The multimedia content reader terminal is able to be a content source of a rendering terminal. The rendering terminal has a plurality of selectable digital content sources. The method includes obtaining a description file of the digital content, including a list of time segments of the content to be downloaded each associated with several encoding rates of the content, and determining an encoding rate of the time segments to be downloaded for real time rendering of the content, according to a resource constraint of the terminal. If the determined encoding rate is less than a maximum encoding rate proposed in the description file, the method implements a selection of an option: of downloading the time segments at the determined encoding rate and rendering the content in real time; or of downloading the time segments at an encoding rate higher than the determined encoding rate and rendering the content offline.

Abstract: The adaptive progressive downloading of a content broadcast in real time on a radiocommunication network, implemented by a multimedia stream player terminal connected to the radiocommunication network is disclosed. A method implements, before playing the content, a configuration, according to at least one characteristic of the radiocommunication network, of a depth of buffer dedicated to the temporary storage of the content before playing, in the multimedia stream player terminal.

Abstract: A method for managing adaptive streaming of an item of digital content within a multimedia stream reading terminal connected to a mobile communication network is disclosed. The item of digital content is associated with a description file for the item and includes a list of time segments of the item of content that are each associated with multiple encoding rates of the item of content. A maximum data volume to be consumed within the mobile communication network, as a data bucket, is allocated to the multimedia stream reading terminal. When the adaptive streaming of the item is launched, the method determines a data volume that would be consumed by the multimedia stream reading terminal as a result of streaming the time segments and selects a maximum encoding rate of the item authorized for the streaming on the basis of the consumed data volume associated therewith and of the data bucket.
