  • Patent number: 9752243
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of fabricating a bath of electrolyte for plating a platinum-based metal underlayer on a metallic substrate, comprising: a) providing a first system having ligands and amine functional groups, the first system being constituted by an aqueous solution of an amino ligand comprising at least one compound X—(NH2)n, where X belongs to the group constituted by (CH3, CH3—CH2, CH3—(CH2)m), or NH3 or an xP?(NH4)+p salt where x is an acid radical belonging to the group constituted by (PO43?, HPO42?, H2PO4?, HPO42?and H2PO4?, SO42?, HSO4?, H2SO4, HSO4?, and H2SO4, CH3COO?, CH3COOH, and CH3COO?), or H2SO4, or CH3COOH, and where n, m, and p are non-zero integers; b) providing a second system forming a buffer system; c) providing a third system providing a metallic salt, and constituted by an aqueous solution of platinum; d) providing a fourth system suitable for imparting the conduction property to the medium; and e) mixing together the four systems so as to obtain the electrolyte bath.

  • Publication number: 20160153106
Abstract: A method is for producing a metal undercoat made from platinum on a metallic substrate. The method includes providing a metallic part forming a substrate, providing an electrolyte bath formed from an ionic liquid medium with one or more aluminium salts, depositing a first layer of a first metal on the substrate so as to obtain a substrate coated with the first metallic layer, depositing a second layer of a second metal on the first layer so as to obtain a substrate coated with the first metallic layer and the second metallic layer. One of the first metal and the second metal is a metal of the platinum group (platinoid) and the other from the first metal and the second metal is aluminium deposited by electroplating with the electrolyte bath formed from an ionic liquid medium.

  • Patent number: 8720455
Abstract: An installation including a bath storage reservoir, a treatment tank to receive the component that is to be treated which is carried by a support tool collaborating with the tank, respective pipes for conveying the bath from the reservoir to the tank and for emptying the bath from the tank to the reservoir, and a motion instigating device for setting the bath in motion in the closed circuit is provided. The tank is of elongate shape with a longitudinal axis and a cross section that is substantially constant between the respectively upstream and downstream opposite transverse ends of the tank. The bath conveying and emptying pipes are respectively connected to the upstream and downstream ends of the elongate tank along the longitudinal axis thereof. The tooling carrying the component that is to be treated, which component is placed in the tank, is mounted fixedly thereon.

  • Publication number: 20130008797
Abstract: Arranged in a bath contained in a tank are respectively an anodic electrode and a cathodic electrode, which are connected to an electric current generator. The cathodic electrode can be composed of a plurality of individual test specimens suitable for being immersed in the metal bath, and the device additionally includes a controllable electric power supply unit for the individual cathodic test specimens, which is connected to the current generator and includes a mechanism for controlling the current passing through the cathodic test specimens so that a given current flows in each of them.

  • Publication number: 20110247664
Abstract: The installation comprises a bath storage reservoir (4), a treatment tank (6) to receive the component that is to be treated which is carried by a support tool (10) collaborating with the tank, respective pipes (5, 7) for conveying the bath from the reservoir to the tank and for emptying the bath from the tank to the reservoir, and motion instigating means (8) for setting the bath in motion in the closed circuit. Advantageously, the tank (6) is of elongate shape with a longitudinal axis and a cross section that is substantially constant between the respectively upstream (12) and downstream (14) opposite transverse ends of the tank, said bath conveying (5) and emptying (7) pipes are respectively connected to the upstream and downstream ends of the elongate tank along the longitudinal axis thereof and the tooling (10) carrying the component (P) that is to be treated, which component is placed in the tank (6), is mounted fixedly thereon.
