Patent number: 5566865Abstract: A metering pump for dispensing a predetermined volume of a liquid or semi-liquid fluid includes a pump body 1, a differential piston 51,52, and a turret 6 secured to a container cap 61. The pump body has a bottom end in communication with the container and a top end 11 capable of being fixed in a desired axial position on the turret. The piston is mounted for fluid-tight sliding in the pump body and has a rest position in which it defines a pump chamber 3, the piston being urged by a return spring 7 towards the turret. The top end 11 of the pump body is axially adjustable within the turret to vary the volume of the pump chamber, and includes integral barb projections 111 that bite into the softer turret material.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1994Date of Patent: October 22, 1996Assignee: Valois S.A.Inventors: Claude Jouillat, Herve Pennaneac'h, Michel Theot

Patent number: 5176296Abstract: Product admission into the working chamber 23 of a precompression pump is accelerated by providing a differential piston 4 with a bore 63 which establishes communication between the inside of a skirt 42 and a shoulder 44. A cylindrical sealing element 60 is fitted over a spindle 41 to be applied against the shoulder 44, level with two annular contacts 64, 65 between which the bore terminates. The sealing element closes the bore on discharge of the precompressed product dose. The sealing element is configured such that, particularly when the pump is idle, it is kept deformed and is therefore applied to the shoulder 44 with sufficient force to guarantee the seal of the two annular contacts 64, 65.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1991Date of Patent: January 5, 1993Assignee: Valois (societe anonyme)Inventors: Jean-Pierre Lina, Herve Pennaneac'h

Patent number: 4930999Abstract: A precompression metering pump of the prior art which is otherwise particularly advantageous, is nevertheless difficult to prime because of the high degree of compressibility of the air it initially contains in its pump chamber. The present invention improves this aspect of metering pump operations. It consists in providing additional resilient means (20) and at least one cylindrical part (10) level with the conventional outlet non-return valve of the pump and constituting a second outlet non-return valve. In a particular embodiment, the resilient means and the cylindrical part are received one above the other in the outlet channel (33) of the pump actuator rod (31). To do this, they bear respectively against a choking step (32) in the form of a lug and a shoulder (34) presented by said channel. In normal operation, the differential piston (4) of the pump moves out of the way so that operation takes place as in a prior art precompression metering pump.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1989Date of Patent: June 5, 1990Assignee: Societe Technique de Pulverisation - STEP SAInventors: Michel Brunet, Patrick Di Giovanni, Claude Jouillat, Jean-Pierre Lina, Herve Pennaneac'h
