Abstract: A method is provided for monitoring a representation of a user in a virtual environment. The method includes: a step of continuous supervision of a state of transfer of data between a terminal of said user and an entity for management of said virtual environment; a step of adaptation of a behaviour of said representation following a modification of said data transfer state.

Abstract: A method of dynamically evaluating the mood of a user of an electronic messaging system who uses a terminal to send an electronic message addressed to another user, the sending user having an element representative of that user's mood that is visible to the addressee of the message, and in general manner, by all of the contacts of the sending user. The sent message transits via a platform that includes a module for evaluating the mood of users, which module modifies a parameter measuring the mood of the user sending the message as a function of at least one predetermined criterion present in the sent message. The modified parameter is notified to the addressees of the message and to all or some of the contacts of the sending user.

Abstract: This instant messaging server includes: means for receiving a first notification from a first instant messaging client, the first notification representing the availability of information for a second client; means for registering a state of presence associated with the first client representing the fact that the information is available for said second client; and means for sending a second notification to a second instant messaging client, the second notification representing that state of presence in response to any presence enquiry effected by this second client.
