  • Patent number: 4703842
Abstract: A liquid friction coupling, which preferably constitutes a differential arranged in the shaft line between two driven axles of a vehicle, consists of a rotatable housing (1), which is filled with a viscous liquid, a shaft (2), which protrudes into the housing (1), and a number of interdigitating blades (5, 6). The blades (5) of one set are non-rotatably connected to the housing (1) and the blades (6) of the other set are non-rotatably connected to the shaft (2). The shaft (2) includes a cavity (4), which serves to receive liquid from the housing (1) and contains a spring-loaded slider (8). In order to effect an automatic control of the torque which can be transmitted during the starting period, the slider in the cavity (4) of the shaft constitutes a sliding valve member (8), which cooperates with slots or the like, which are formed in the shaft and lead into the housing (1). The sliding valve member (8) is adjustable in dependence on a performance variable, preferably in dependence on temperature.

  • Patent number: 4608877
Abstract: A gear shift device for transmissions, comprising a plurality of gear shift rods provided with connecting members and clutch-actuating shift forks, the rods being arranged in parallel with one another and mounted to be movable in the lengthwise direction thereof, and a gear shift shaft provided with fingers engageable with the connecting members, the gear shift shaft being disposed at right angles to the gear shift rods and rotationally and axially movable around and along an axis thereof, the gear shift rods consisting of a plurality of groups of rods disposed in a plurality of positions which are spaced from each other along the axis of the gear shift shaft, the fingers being fixed to a plurality of spaced portions of the gear shift shaft so as to be opposed to the groups of gear shift rods.

  • Patent number: 4606243
Abstract: A driving gear for all-wheel-drive vehicles, comprises a transmission provided with a plurality of shafts parallel with an axis of a vehicle. An interaxle differential gear has an axis parallel with the shafts in the transmission and adapted to output the driving force from the transmission in a divided manner. An interwheel differential gear is provided concentrically with the interaxle differential gear and adapted to apply one output therefrom in a divided manner to right and left wheels which are closer to the transmission. A bevel gear train is interposed between a driving shaft and the interaxle differential gear. The driving shaft is provided so as to cross the axes of the two differential gears at right angles thereto and apply the other output from the interaxle differential gear to right and left wheels which are more distant from the transmission. Finally, a housing is provided in which all the parts are held.

  • Patent number: 4173374
Abstract: The wheel comprises a hub having a periphery provided with peripherally spaced, radially projecting lugs. An integral wheel body comprises a central ring which surrounds the hub and is secured to the lugs, and spokes radiating from the ring. The hub and ring define air flow passages disposed radially between the hub and ring.
