Abstract: An electronic device is provided including a first and second sensors, memory storing instructions, and at least one processor. The instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the electronic device to, based on identifying that a user is in a sleep state, detect a movement of the electronic device via the first sensor, based on a magnitude of the movement being less than or equal to a threshold, acquire, based on a biosignal acquired via the second sensor, biometric information of the user, acquire a time period corresponding to a designated sleep stage among sleep stages of the sleep state, and identifying, among the acquired biometric information, biometric information acquired during a third time period, the third time period being an overlapping time period between a first time period during which the biometric information is acquired and a second time period corresponding to the designated sleep stage.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method of controlling the mobile terminal are provided. The method includes locking the mobile terminal; if a communication event occurs, displaying communication event alert information on a display module; and if a predefined gesture input is received in connection with the communication event alert information, unlocking the mobile terminal and entering an operating mode corresponding to the communication event. Therefore, it is possible to readily unlock the mobile terminal and place the mobile terminal in any operating mode in response to a gesture input.
