  • Publication number: 20090169955
Abstract: Membrane for fuel cells, containing polymers comprising phosphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid groups, membrane electrode assemblies and the use thereof in fuel cells The present invention relates to a membrane for fuel cells, containing polymers comprising phosphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid groups, characterized in that the polymer comprising phosphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid groups can be obtained by copolymerisation of monomers comprising phosphonic acid and/or sulphonic acid groups and hydrophobic monomers.

  • Publication number: 20090098430
Abstract: Polymer with high molecular weight which can be obtained by a method, in which a composition is polymerised by free-radical polymerisation which, based on its total weight, comprises at least 80.0% by weight of ethylenically unsaturated compounds, characterized in that the composition contains at least one monomer comprising phosphonic acid groups and/or sulphonic acid groups. The polymer has a weight average of the degree of polymerisation of more than 300 and due to its chemical and physical properties, is particularly suitable for polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM) in so-called PEM fuel cells.
