  • Publication number: 20240428447
Abstract: A system and method to detect the positioning of a person relative to a seat includes an image sensor and a processing system. The image sensor is directed toward the seat and is configured to capture images of the person and the seat and to supply image data indicative of the captured images. The processing system is in operable communication with the image sensor and is configured to receive and process the image data to determine when the person is not in a first position by determining that the image sensor is not focused on the person for a first predetermined time period, based on which of a plurality of objects on the seat are visible in the captured images, and/or by variations in the illumination pattern emitted onto the person.

  • Publication number: 20240262287
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting potential vehicle operator incapacitation based on operator physiological state data. Raw operator physiological state data is received from a biosensing wearable device of an operator of a vehicle. The raw operator physiological state data includes raw operator actigraphy state data. Contextual motion data is received from at least one environmental motion sensor. The contextual motion data is associated with movement of the vehicle. A motion filter mask is generated based on the contextual motion data. The motion filter mask is applied to the raw operator actigraphy state data to filter the contextual motion data from the raw operator actigraphy state data to generate actual operator actigraphy state data. A determination is made regarding whether the actual operator actigraphy state data is less than an actigraphy threshold. An operator incapacity alert is issued based on the determination.

  • Publication number: 20230297123
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for assisting operation of a vehicle by monitoring a physiological state of an operator and automatically initiating a remedial action responsive to a change in the physiological state. One method involves determining a biometric indication of the current physiological state based on measurement data from one or more sensing devices, determining an activity-based indication of the current physiological state based on output signals from one or more user interface elements and determining an aggregate indicator of the current physiological state as a function of the biometric indication and the activity-based indication using one or more weighting factors that vary during operation of the vehicle. One or more remedial actions are automatically initiated based on the aggregate indicator, for example, in response to a change in physiological state indicated by the value of the aggregate indicator.

  • Publication number: 20220405518
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for measuring the capacitive state of an operator. The method includes placing an matrix array of pressure detection sensors in physical contact with the individual. The matrix array is integrated into the seat of the operator and continually measures the operator's presence and movement in the seat based on data received from the matrix array of pressure detection sensors. The breathing, movement and actigraphy patterns of the operator are measured and calculated based on the data received from the matrix array of pressure detection sensors. The breathing, movement and actigraphy patterns of the operator are continually analyzed to determine the capacitive state of the operator.
