  • Publication number: 20140177709
Abstract: To reduce power consumption in an encoding process without extremely lowering encoding efficiency, a chrominance of each pixel of a prediction block is derived as a reference chrominance block according to a chrominance intra prediction mode from a reference chrominance sample representing a chrominance of a pixel necessary for intra encoding, a difference between the reference chrominance block and a chrominance sample of an input encoding block is derived as a chrominance prediction residual, and an evaluation value of the chrominance prediction residual is derived. This process is performed to a candidate of the chrominance intra prediction mode adoptable irrespective of a luminance intra prediction mode. The chrominance intra prediction mode corresponding to the evaluation value when this evaluation value is equal to or smaller than a threshold is adopted as the chrominance intra prediction mode of the prediction block.

  • Publication number: 20140105279
Abstract: An image analyzer divides an input image into first blocks in a coding unit and generates analysis information associated with intra-frame prediction of the input image for each first block. An intra-frame predictor divides the input image into second blocks in a predictive unit, and performs the intra-frame prediction to generate the prediction residual of each second block. A CODEC encodes a DC component or the prediction residual of the second block. An encoding controller estimates, for each first block, the coding result of the CODEC based on the analysis information and controls the intra-frame predictor and the CODEC based on the estimation.

  • Patent number: 8326052
Abstract: A selector selects one of a standard parameter corresponding to a filter strength contained in input movie image data and an original parameter originally set at the decoding side as a filter parameter to be used. A screen-display filter performs deblocking filtering using the filter parameter selected by the selector on decoded movie image data. A post-filter performs deblocking filtering using the standard parameter and stores the obtained decoded image data in a memory to allow it to be used in inter-frame compensation.
