  • Patent number: 5263095
Abstract: A block copy image is divided into several regions R1 and R6, to which different system colors are allocated. A subject region PR including a line break CP1 is specified by an operator. Run-length data of a run-length less than or equal to a predetermined threshold value is automatically detected out of various run-length data representing the subject region PR. White/black designation data defining the color of an image in the run-length data is changed into the color of a linework. The break CP1 in the linework is thus reconnected without operator's instruction. Alternatively, the subject region PR is divided into two portions. The two portions are further divided into separate areas to which different system colors are allocated. This enables an operator to easily detect the position of a line break because the linework elements separated by a break have different colors. The break is then reconnected according to operator's instruction.

  • Patent number: 5251022
Abstract: An overlapping image area is produced on the border between adjacent image areas by processing of image data so as to eliminate a dropout due to registering mismatch. A target image area CR2, specified by an operator, is expanded by a predetermined width d to produce overlapping image areas CR4 and CR5. The color of the overlapping image area CR4 or CR5 is determined based on the color of the target area CR2 and the original color of the overlapping image area CR4 or CR5. For example, the larger value between each color component of the original color of the overlapping image area and that of the color of the target area is selected as the new color component of the overlapping image area.

  • Patent number: 4809082
Abstract: Gradation levels of an image to be recorded are expressed by gradation data having integral parts and decimal parts. Random numbers are composed with the decimal parts to provide composite values. When the composite value exceeds, the quantity is added to the value of the integral part. The decimal parts are accumulated along the direction of an array of pixels, to provide accumulated values. Also when the accumulated value exceeds, the quantity is added to the value of the integral part to provide a modified integral part. The modified integral parts are employed as gradation data in image recording.

  • Patent number: 4771471
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for processing binary-coded image data. A peripheral picture element region of a predetermined size is set up around a target picture element which is to be processed. Logical windows are established around their corresponding divided picture elements which have been obtained by dividing the target picture element into n.times.n pieces. In the respective logical windows, the areas of data regions "1" divided in accordance with the logical values are determined. The areas are compared with a predetermined value to obtain comparison results. Predetermined logical values are again given to the data on the divided picture elements located centrally in their corresponding logical windows in accordance with their corresponding comparison results. Data on the above-processed divided picture elements are then output upon outputting data on the target picture element.

  • Patent number: 4742399
Abstract: A bilevel original is read in the form of multi-gradation image data stored as 3 by 3 pixels in a latch circuit. An ROM stores data of bilevel image patterns higher in resolution than the multi-gradation image data. The stored data are related to every combination of gradation values of a central pixel in 3 by 3 image regions and data patterns of peripheral pixels thereof. The image data stored in the latch circuit are supplied as an address input to the ROM, which in turn outputs corresponding high-resolution bilevel image pattern data.

  • Patent number: 4703363
Abstract: Jagged border lines between image components of a reproduction image or the image of a display are smoothed visually at first by giving weight coefficients to a center pixel and the surrounding pixels thereof, and then by obtaining values for designating middle level densities to be used for the smoothing according to the sum of the coefficients.

  • Patent number: 4692796
Abstract: A method for manufacturing electric masks characterized by a step of setting a cutout area of the original picture adhered to an input drum by using a color scanner comprising CRT monitor and coordinate input device, a step of roughly scanning the picture in this cutout area at coarser pitch than the scanning pitch in duplicating and recording process, a step of averaging the picture signal obtained by this rough scanning into coarse sampling data, a step of writing this coarse sampling data into the background memory of CRT monitor, a step of displaying thus written coarse sampling data on the CRT monitor as a picture, a step of writing the contour of desired electric mask on the display image by using the coordinate input device while observing this display image and displaying on the control memory, a step of making an electric mask by painting out the contour and writing the electric mask data obtained at this time into the control memory, and a step of reading out the electric mask data written in the co

  • Patent number: 4683500
Abstract: A method for reproducing picture images in which a plurality of original pictures are recorded on a recording surface of a picture scanning recording machine according to a predetermined layout comprising the steps of inputting data for configurations and dispositions of more than one closed contour in accordance with the predetermined layout and picture data to be recorded in the insides of the closed contours by a data inputting device, converting the input configuration and disposition data into closed contour data which are rearranged in the order of having been recorded on the recording surface of the machine, storing in memory these data together with picture data to be recorded inside the closed contours reading the two kinds of data out of the data memory according to the order recorded on the recording surface of the machine, and recording a picture signal or a tint screen which is output from the picture scanning input in accordance with the data inside of more than one closed contour.

  • Patent number: 4679095
Abstract: A novel method of scanning and recording image and an apparatus for use thereof in which: plural original pictures are attached to an original picture cylinder; the trim-region of each original picture is designated on the original picture cylinder prior to recording a duplicate image; the image signals obtained by photoelectric scanning of the original picture from within its trim-region are sampled; the data thus sampled are subjected to statistical classification and treatment for obtaining the density data of each original picture; based on this density data, the scanning condition data necessary for the optimum gradation correction and optimum color correction are determined; these scanning condition data are stored at every original picture; and at the same time, the scanning condition data which were stored at every scanning of the original picture are successively set in the image scanning and recording apparatus, in photoelectric scanning for recording the duplicate image; thus sequential scanning an

  • Patent number: 4673989
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording plural images with desired layout by an image reproducing scanner in which frames on which images to be reproduced are moved relatively to an optical axis by maintaining a layout sheet which represents area frames on a projecting plane of a projector. The original pictures to be reproduced are mounted on a movable and rotatable original picture holder along a plane intersecting perpendicularly with the optical axis. The desired areas on which the original pictures are projected are focused by adjusting magnification ratio etc., and a pick-up scanning drum and the above described data are stored as control data. Repeating the above described, the pick-up drum on which the original picture are loaded is set up so that reproduced patterns may be recorded according to the control data.

  • Patent number: 4670793
Abstract: In forming a sharpness emphasis signal, accidental errors produced in digital processing of the image data of pixels in a matrix are cancelled by using look-up table memories to suppress the appearance of corresponding noises onto reproduction images. The invention further provides for use of a reduced number of bits in processing the data and particularly in processing sums of products used in the process, by providing for products to have substantially the same number of bits as the factors of the product.

  • Patent number: 4649500
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for collecting data on the amounts of inks to be fed, said data being useful in adjusting the feed amounts of the inks in a printing machine. Desired regions of reproduced pictures, which regions are effective for reproduction, are identified by two-dimensionally arranged addresses of plural picture elements for respective color-separated printing plates, which are adapted to produce printed matter, upon preparation of the reproduced pictures for the color-separated printing plates, thereby to divide the regions into sections adapted to sample the amounts of inks required therefor; the average values of percent halftone dot areas or picture densities in the respective sections are determined; and the average values are then filed in combination with the addresses of the corresponding sections. Printed pictures of best quality can be economically obtained by either on-line or off-line adjusting the ink fountains of the printing machine in accordance with the ink amount data.
