Publication number: 20020072903Abstract: Conventionally, the bit rate of a voiceless part of a voice signal is lowered distinguishing the voiceless part from the voice part; according to the invention, the bit rate of the voice part is also lowered. The voice part is constituted of a vowel sound and a consonant sound. The vowel sound can be reproduced with almost no degradation of the quality by reproducing both the vocal track component and the pitch component even if the encoding bit rate of the other components is lowered. Therefore, when the vowel sound of the voice part is encoded, the average bit rate when the voice part is sounded is lowered by reducing the number of the encoding bits of a fixed codebook and by lowering the bit rate to half the rate. To discriminate a vowel sound, the relation between the LPC spectrum and the LSP coefficients is used. The vowel sound has high peaks in the LPC spectrum, and the LSP coefficients are present on both sides of the peaks.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 31, 2002Publication date: June 13, 2002Inventors: Hideaki Kurihara, Masato Ito, Rika Nishiike

Publication number: 20010055310Abstract: A signal processing apparatus for assigning channels to a plurality of DSP's to be used comprises a control circuit for controlling the DSP's, a library for storing a plurality of signal processing algorithms, and a channel assignment table. The control circuit, when an assignment designation of a channel and an algorithm for each of the DSP's is received, compares the designated algorithm with the algorithms having been already downloaded to the DSP's based on the table, thereby downloading only an algorithm required to be newly downloaded from the library to the DSP's or between the DSP's and assigning the downloaded algorithm to the received channel. The channel assignment table can fixedly/variably store a relationship between processing positions (time slots) in addition to the relationship between the channels and the DSP's.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2001Publication date: December 27, 2001Inventors: Noboru Kobayashi, Naoji Fujino, Hideaki Kurihara, Mitsuru Tsuboi, Teruyuki Sato, Fumiaki Nishida

Patent number: 6201488Abstract: A CODEC has a DSP which can consecutively execute a plurality of algorithms without restriction of a memory capacity. The DSP performs an encoding/decoding operation on a digital signal. A program memory stores a program divided into a plurality of block programs, the program being stored on an individual block program basis. A data memory stores a set of data used for executing each block program stored in the program memory, the set of data being divided into a plurality of data blocks and stored on an individual data block basis. A program executing unit executes each block program stored in the program memory by using a corresponding data block stored in the data memory. A program changing unit obtains a new block program from an external device each time execution of one of the block programs by the program executing unit is completed so as to store the obtained new block program in the program memory.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1999Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Teruyuki Sato, Hideaki Kurihara, Yoshinori Soejima, Yasuko Shirai, Masato Ito, Kazuhiro Nomoto

Patent number: 5864650Abstract: A larger number, L', of delta vectors .DELTA..sub.i (i=0, 1, 2, . . . , L'-1) than the required number L are each multiplied by a matrix of a linear predictive synthesis filter (3), their power (A.DELTA..sub.i).sup.T (A.DELTA..sub.i) is evaluated (42), and the delta vectors are reordered in decreasing order of power (43); then, L delta vectors are selected in decreasing order of power, the largest power first, to construct a tree-structure data code book (41), using which A-b-S vector quantization is performed (48). This provides increased freedom for the space formed by the delta vectors and improves quantization characteristics. Further, variable rate encoding is achieved by taking advantage of the structure of the tree-structure data code book.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Tomohiko Taniguchi, Yoshinori Tanaka, Yasuji Ohta, Hideaki Kurihara

Patent number: 5828811Abstract: Speech coding uses a periodic excitation signal source, a non-periodic signal excitation source, a synthesizing unit, a filter, and an error evaluating unit. The synthesizing unit synthesizes a periodic excitation signal and a non-periodic excitation signal output from the above-mentioned sources to generate an excitation sound source signal. The filter regenerates an input speech signal from the excitation sound signal. The error evaluating unit controls the periodic excitation signal source and the non-periodic excitation signal source so that the above-mentioned units output periodic and non-periodic excitation signals which minimize a difference of the regenerated signal from an input speech signal. When the error is minimized, the above-mentioned sound source is supplied to a feedback excitation signal modifying unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1994Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Fujitsu, LimitedInventors: Tomohiko Taniguchi, Yasuji Ohta, Yoshinori Tanaka, Hideaki Kurihara, Yoshihiro Sakai
