  • Patent number: 6838609
Abstract: In a memory of a communication setting apparatus, there is stored communication setting information that collectively predefines a plurality of communication condition parameters corresponding to a communication mode. The plurality of communication condition parameters are intended to set whether a plurality of kinds of tone performance data (e.g., tone performance data based on operation on a keyboard and tone performance data based on an automatic performance) and control data (e.g., tempo clock data) should be transmitted or received. When a user has selected a communication mode by operation of a predetermined switch, the communication setting information corresponding to the selected communication mode is read out from the memory, and tone performance data and/or control data are set to condition for transmission or reception in accordance with a plurality of communication condition parameters defined by the communication setting information.

  • Patent number: 6495747
Abstract: A performance evaluation apparatus presents a reference performance of a music piece for practice. The user inputs manual performance operations in tempo with the presented reference performance. The apparatus compares the inputted manual performance and the reference performance, and outputs an evaluation report as to the correctness of the manual performance with respect to the reference performance. In one embodiment, the apparatus is provided with an outputting condition designating device for the user to designate whether to output an evaluation report after the practice performance is over. In another embodiment, the apparatus is provided with an evaluation span designating device for the user to designate performance spans about which the user's practice performance is to be evaluated. The apparatus outputs an evaluation report according to the user's designation.

  • Patent number: 5652402
Abstract: In an electronic musical instrument, a complete range of a keyboard can be split into at least two registers, so that a different kind of tone color can be assigned to each of two registers. The electronic musical instrument provides at least four tone-color designating switches, one edit switch and two kinds of indicators. Each of the four tone-color designating switches is capable of independently designating a certain tone color. Herein, two tone-color designating switches are provided to designate two tone colors respectively for use in one register, while other two tone-color designating switches are provided to designate two tone colors respectively for use in another register. The edit switch designates each of parameters which are used to define a property of the tone color. The first indicator indicates the tone color currently designated, while the second indicator indicates the parameter currently edited.

  • Patent number: 5461191
Abstract: A control panel is installed in an electronic equipment for selectively setting a plurality of parameters by a desired value so as to control the electronic equipment. The control panel has first operation members each manipulable initially to undergo a select action for selecting one of the parameters, the same being manipulable subsequently after the select action to undergo an input action for inputting a desired value. At least one second operation member is disposed separately from the first operation members and is manipulable in combination with one of the first operation members to undergo an input action for inputting a desired value. A CPU is responsive to the select and input actions of the same first operation member for setting the selected parameter by the inputted value, and is otherwise responsive in combination to both of the select action of the first operation member and the input action of the second operation member for setting the selected parameter by the inputted value.

  • Patent number: 5290967
Abstract: The automatic performance data programming instrument is constructed to program and record an object part of the automatic performance data by physically playing an input implement such as a keyboard. During the course of the programing operation, the automatic performance data is fed to a sound source for simultaneous tone generation. The volume information contained in the automatic performance data is selectively altered so as to intensify a tone volume of the object part relative to those of the remaining parts, in order to facilitate evaluation of the performance effect associated to the object part.

  • Patent number: 5200566
Abstract: An electronic musical instrument is provided with an ad-lib melody data storage device for storing ad-lib melody data and an ad-lib switch so that, when the ad-lib switch is turned on, it will read the ad-lib melody data to automatically play an ad-lib melody. The access to the ad-lib melody data is performed according to a clock value, and the instrument is adapted to count up the clock value while the ad-lib switch is on, and moreover to hold or count up without resetting also while the ad-lib switch is off. This arrangement allows the reading start address to be varied each time the ad-lib switch is turned on, enabling ad-lib melodies to be played in great variety.

  • Patent number: 5195140
Abstract: An acoustic signal processing apparatus comprising infinite impulse response type digital filters and phase control device. The filters receive an acoustic signal. Outputs from the filters are synthesized to generate an output signal. The phase control device controls the phase of the output signals so as to cause limit cycle noise components generated by the filters to cancel each other on synthesizing.
