  • Patent number: 8468360
Abstract: An application on a client terminal transmits application session information indicating a state of the application itself and an application signature proving the identity of the application to a browser. The browser transmits the application session information and the application signature to a server. The server generates an HTML page in which a script specifying an operation to be performed by the application is inserted and server session information and transmits the HTML page and the server session information to the browser along with the application signature received from the browser. When the script is activated, the browser passes the information received from the server to the application. The application performs processing according to the server session information only if the application signature passed from the browser is an application signature generated by the application itself.

  • Patent number: 8250136
Abstract: An information processing system includes an electronic apparatus, a server, and an external apparatus. The electronic apparatus acquires operation information for the electronic apparatus from the server, and directs the electronic apparatus to operate according to the operation information. The server receives an external apparatus identifier, electronic apparatus identifier, and operation information, from the external apparatus, and accumulates the information. The external apparatus accepts input of the electronic apparatus identifier and the operation information, and transmits the external apparatus identifier and the operation information to the server. Such an information processing system enables operation information for an electronic apparatus to be set and acquired, without directly accessing an electronic apparatus from an external apparatus, improving security.

  • Publication number: 20100268621
Abstract: In a service of downloading contents whose contract is to be automatically renewed, an establishing of a synchronization between information about a period stored on the side of a terminal and information about a period to be renewed on the side of a server, causes a problem of load increase and others because a large amount of contents have to be synchronized at frequent intervals. In consideration thereof, a method for contents viewing permission takes two types of automatic renewal and non-automatic renewal, and the type is described in a meta data transmitted to the terminal at the time of DL registration. In accordance with the meta data, when the type is of the automatic renewal, even if the license is already expired, the terminal makes a display of “automatic renewal” on a listing-display screen of an information display section with no conditions, at a point in time before a command comes from a user for playback and before the license is renewed in response thereto.

  • Publication number: 20100186092
Abstract: Methods to set a viewing and/or listening term are classified into two types, which are a fixed-time-length type to limit time length and a fixed-expiration-time type to limit expiration time. And the timings of license acquisition are classified into two types which are an immediate-acquisition type and a point-of-use type. The type of the timing of license acquisition is written to a meta data which is to be sent to a terminal before initiating download. The terminal determines the timing of license acquisition according to the meta data. When contents are point-of-use type, the terminal doesn't acquire a key and an expiration time information until a time of initiating playback. On the other hand, when contents are immediate-acquisition type, the terminal acquires the key and the expiration time information at any point of time. Since the key is acquired at the early timing such as download completion timing, a reaction velocity in response to a playback instruction can be heighten.

  • Patent number: 7747016
Abstract: A data transmitting and receiving method for improving transmission and reception efficiency can be obtained by improving the security through update of a control key and reduction of the frequency of the authentication and key exchange process. An STB 1 transmits encrypted digital data Kw (D) obtained by encrypting digital data D using a work key Kw, and an encrypted work key Kc (Kw) obtained by encrypting the Kw using a control key Kc. The Kc is periodically or non-periodically updated, and an identifier L identifying the Kc is assigned to each Kc. A VTR device 2 decrypts the received Kc (Kw) using the Kc obtained by performing the authentication and key exchange process with the STB 1, decrypts the Kw (D) received using the Kw to obtain the D. It is determined whether or not the Kc has been updated while the reception process is suspended by referring to the transmitted L when the reception process is suspended and then resumed.

  • Patent number: 7418511
Abstract: A communication system includes a device and a server connected to the Internet, which transfers communications between the device and a terminal connectable to the Internet via the server. The device periodically transmits a notice packet to the server. The server transmits a connection request packet to the device in reply to the notice packet when a transfer to the device is requested from the terminal. The device transmits a TCP connection request to the server when receiving the connection request packet from the server. The server accepts the TCP connection request transmitted from the device to the server in reply to the connection request packet, to establish the TCP connection. Thus, the server transfers communications between the terminal and the device on the TCP connection after the TCP connection is established.

  • Publication number: 20080091830
Abstract: The present invention provides a transmitting apparatus, a receiving apparatus, and a file transfer system, by which processing of transferring a file is efficiently executed, even if the file transfer is temporarily stopped for a long time in the file transfer system in which the transmitting apparatus voluntarily transmits the file to the receiving apparatus. In the file transfer system of the present invention, a sink apparatus, which is the receiving apparatus, receives file data included in a file from a source apparatus, which is the transmitting apparatus, and then stores the received file data. When a size of the stored data is inquired from the source apparatus, the sink apparatus informs the size to the source apparatus. Further, the source apparatus detects stopping of the file transfer. After the detecting of the stopping of the file transfer, the source apparatus inquires the size of stored data to the sink apparatus.
