Patent number: 8820235Abstract: Provided is a jacket to be installed on a surface of one of impression cylinders and transport cylinders. The jacket is produced by the following process. Super hard particles, such as ceramic particles, are scattered on a surface of a sheet-shaped base member. A plating layer is then formed on the surface of the base member in a way that a convex and concave profile formed of the super hard particles is left. In the plating layer, fine particles of low surface energy resin are uniformly dispersed.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2006Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Komori CorporationInventors: Hideaki Toyoda, Fusao Yamada

Patent number: 5765480Abstract: In a wiping device of an intaglio printing press in which a doctor blade can follow the movement of a wiping roller through a cam mechanism, a holder for the doctor blade is supported on a tank on the machine body side by long holes, formed in the holder in its right-and-left direction and elongated in its back-and-forth direction, and flanged pin members, passing through the long holes, so as to be movable in the directions of throw-on and throw-off movement of the doctor blade. The rightward and leftward movements of the holder are restrained by the long hole and pin member located at one site in the center of the holder. Thus, the doctor blade can fully follow the cocking of the wiping roller, and there are no problems due to the penetration of a solvent or ink.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1996Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 5743187Abstract: In a plate clamping device of a printing press for clamping a plate by a bottom clamping rail and a pressure plate, chips hardened to form serrations inclined in the lateral direction of a plate clamp so as to bite the plate in the direction of slipping-off of the plate are embedded in the clamp surfaces of the bottom clamping rail and the pressure plate such that the serrations on the bottom clamping rail side and the pressure plate side are inclined in opposite directions. Thus, the plate can be held with sufficient force without plastic deformation of the end of the plate, and the plate can be reused.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1996Date of Patent: April 28, 1998Assignee: Komori CorporationInventors: Hideaki Toyoda, Yutaka Endo

Patent number: 5740736Abstract: A printing press comprises an impression cylinder and an intaglio cylinder each having a notched portion and an effective impression area; an eccentric bearing for supporting the impression cylinder; a lever locked on one end side to the bearing; a hydraulic cylinder for acting on the other end side of the lever to turn the bearing; a pressure transducer for detecting pressure which acts on the hydraulic cylinder when the impression cylinder is pressed against the intaglio cylinder; a display device for displaying a printing pressure between the impression cylinder and the intaglio cylinder that has been calculated from a detection signal produced by the pressure transducer when the notched portions of both cylinders face each other, and a detection signal produced by the pressure transducer when the effective impression areas of both cylinders face each other; and adjusting screw and threaded shaft for adjusting the pressure of contact between the impression cylinder and the intaglio cylinder by changing theType: GrantFiled: December 12, 1996Date of Patent: April 21, 1998Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 5592882Abstract: In a printing press, a bearing for supporting a cylinder axle of a printing cylinder is supported by a bearing housing attached to a frame of the printing press. A heating device circulates heated water through a path formed in the cylinder. A path is formed in at least one of the bearing housing and the frame, and heated water is supplied to that path in order to shorten the warming up period for printing.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1995Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: Komori CorporationInventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 4425816Abstract: A structure for securing a cylinder drive gear to a cylinder shaft in a printing machine comprises a cylinder having an end shaft, a cylinder drive gear inserted and fixed by bolts onto said end shaft, a pair of taper rings with their taper faces being in contact with each other, one of said taper rings being mounted on said end shaft such that the movement in the axial direction is limited by said cylinder drive gear, another taper ring being mounted slideably on said end shaft, and a device for tightening said another taper ring toward said cylinder drive gear so that both taper rings expand in the radial direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1981Date of Patent: January 17, 1984Assignee: Komori Printing Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 4413561Abstract: In an ink fountain device for a printing press of the type wherein a plurality of divided blade sections are adjustable toward and away from an ink fountain roller and a covering plate covering the divided blade sections is attracted to the divided blade sections by permanent magnets embedded in the divided blade sections, an inner end of the covering plate is spaced a predetermined distance away from the ink fountain roller and slanted downwardly and an angle between the slanted surface and an upper surface of the covering plate is made to be smaller than that between the upper surface and a tangent passing through a point on a periphery of the ink fountain roller confronting an inner end of the divided blade section. According to this construction bending up of the covering plate can be prevented so that leakage of the ink into a gap between the divided blade sections and the covering plate can be prevented.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1982Date of Patent: November 8, 1983Assignee: Komori Printing Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 4393776Abstract: In an ink fountain device for use in a printing press of the type wherein printing ink is supplied through a gap between an inking roller and an adjustable inclined blade, the blade includes a plurality of juxtaposed sections divided along the inking roller, and a magnetic plate having the same width as the combined width of the blade sections. The magnetic plate is attracted to the blade sections by permanent magnets provided for the respective blade sections. Permanent magnets can also be provided for the respective blade sections or a blade support for firmly attracting the blade sections to the blade support. The construction not only permits fine adjustment of the quantity of ink in each section in accordance with the contrast of printed patterns but also prevents the printing ink from entering between the blade sections and the magnetic plate, and between the blade sections and the blade support.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1981Date of Patent: July 19, 1983Assignee: Komori Printing Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hideaki Toyoda

Patent number: 4372207Abstract: In a ink fountain device for use in a printing press of the type wherein an ink fountain roller is dipped in an ink pot and a quantity of ink supplied to the printing press is controlled by varying a gap between the ink fountain roller and a blade, the blade is divided into a plurality of sections along the length of the ink fountain roller. Each divided blade is normally urged by a spring to move away from the ink fountain roller and further urged toward the same by another spring and an adjusting screw through a roller urged against a rear end of the divided blade. In this manner, respective blades can be independently adjusted so as to adjust the thickness of ink film along the length of the fountain roller, to be commensurate with a tone or contrast of a printed matter.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1981Date of Patent: February 8, 1983Assignee: Komori Printing Machinery Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hideaki Toyoda
