  • Patent number: 5119130
Abstract: A document size detecting device according to the invention is adapted to be mounted in an image forming device for a copying machine or the like, comprising an arm adapted to be folded and unfolded in operative association with the forward and backward movements, respectively, of the optical section of the image forming device, and a plurality of optical sensors attached to the arm at predetermined positions thereon corresponding to various format sizes of documents. When the arm moves to a document detecting position, a downwardly extending projection thereon moves onto a support member, thus supporting the arm at a predetermined position to keep the optical sensors at a predetermined distance from the document-supporting contact glass.

  • Patent number: 4814833
Abstract: A document size detecting device with the arm which folds by interlocking with the reciprocating motion of the optical system of the image forming apparatus and extends and contracts by interlocking with the reciprocating motion of the optical system. The optical sensor for detection of the document size is installed at a prescribed position of the arm and the feeder line for the light source is held. Therefore, the special mechanism for holding the feeder line is not necessary and it is possible to achieve simplified construction of the image forming apparatus. Also, because the feeder line is caused to curve along the outside of the arm at the rotating section thereof, it is possible to provide a large radius of the bent portion of the feeder line, there will be no considerably concentrated stress which is locally applied to the feeder line, therefore the life of the feeder line can be extended.

  • Patent number: 4647178
Abstract: A unit-type copying machine comprising an upper unit having an optical system for exposing a document to light by scanning, and a lower unit provided independently of the upper unit and having a photoconductive drum to be exposed to an image of the document projected thereon from the optical system. The upper and lower units are provided with connecting portions for detachably connecting the two units together and positioning portions for positioning the optical path of projection of the document image from the optical system in coincidence with an exposure station for the drum. The upper or lower unit is usable with selected one of different types of lower units or of different types of upper units in a suitable combination.

  • Patent number: 4511241
Abstract: A copying apparatus capable of performing a first preset number of copying operations corresponding to a first original document in a successive copying operation mode, and performing a second preset number of copying operations corresponding to a second original document in an intruded copying operation mode includes preset number display elements for indicating a first and second preset numbers, first counter for counting a number of copying operations, a copy number display element for indicating a value counted by the first counting means, a second counter for counting a discharged copy paper after the completion of a copying operation, and a detector for detecting a jam of the copy paper. The counted value of the first counter is revised so as to be equal to the counted value of the second counter when a copy paper jam occurs.

  • Patent number: 4501485
Abstract: A card-operated copying machine allows copying operation in response to insertion of one, at a time, of key checking cards for supervising copy counts for a plurality of sections. The card-operated copying machine includes (a) key checking cards assigned respectively to the sections, (b) a processor for issuing a signal capable of copying operation, the processor having a random-access memory for storing total copy counts respectively for the sections with flags indicative of permission and inhibition of copying operation, (c) a copy count display for reading the data stored in the random-access memory and displaying the total copy count for each section, and (d) an inhibition card recording thereon information for setting the flags to an inhibition state. The copying operation is permitted and inhibited in response to the flag conditions.

  • Patent number: 4484734
Abstract: A copy paper feeding device for a copying apparatus includes a plurality of cassettes which are capable of storing copy paper sheets and a feeder which respectively corresponds to each of the cassettes. Each feeder is selectively driven so as to feed the copy paper sheets in the case where the cassettes store copy paper sheets having different sizes and each feeder is driven in a predetermined order so as to feed the copy paper sheets from one cassette until the cassette is empty and then successively feed the copy paper sheets from the remaining cassette in the case where the cassettes store copy paper sheets having the same size. The copy paper feeding device includes a selector for selecting which feeder is to be driven.

  • Patent number: 4360263
Abstract: A copying apparatus includes a copy paper cutting device which is operated when an original document or an optical device for exposure reaches a predetermined position. The original document or the optical device is stopped when a trailing edge of a copy paper is detected. After at least the leading edge of the copy paper passes through the copy paper cutting device, the copy paper is fed out entirely from an apparatus frame without operating the copy paper cutting device. This results in that the last copy paper sheet of the roll of copy paper is not shorter than the distance between transport rollers in the copy paper passageway to prevent a copy paper jam.
