A monitoring system of the present invention includes an image pickup device capturing images, an updating type specified person detection server receiving captured images, extracting image feature quantities therefrom and storing image feature quantities and provisional person information of unspecified persons and the reliability thereof in real time, and a monitor station with an image searching function capable of searching an image afterward, which are connected via a network. The updating type specified person detection server adds the person information to a specified person list during system operation on the basis of an unspecified person list that is updated.

Abstract: A similar image retrieval system stores image data of picked-up images; extracts features of the respective picked-up images to store with the image data; specifies a key image; and retrieves an image having a high similarity with the key image by evaluating similarities between the key image and the picked-up images based on a feature of the key image and those of the picked up images. The system includes: a unit for assigning a keyword to each image; a first image retrieval unit for retrieving a similar image to the key image while excluding an image with the keyword from a retrieval target; and a second image retrieval unit for retrieving a similar image to the key image while taking only an image with the keyword as a retrieval target.

Abstract: Disclosed is a surveillance system that detects a suspicious person immediately without fail and presents the detected suspicious person to a surveillant even when the system includes a large number of networked surveillance cameras. An imager included in the surveillance system retains a dynamically-updatable suspicious person list within itself and detects a suspicious person in accordance with a feature amount extracted from an image.

Abstract: An image search apparatus includes: an image feature extraction unit for extracting features of images; an image search data storage unit for storing the features of the images; a user interface unit for inputting an image search condition, and displaying a search result; and an image search execution unit for executing an image search, by using the features of the images based on the image search condition, wherein the user interface unit allows multiple key images to be inputted as the single search condition, the image search execution unit executes the search by using key images included in the single search condition, and the user interface unit displays the search result in the order of similarities to the key images.
