  • Patent number: 5802332
Abstract: A single-chip microcomputer and electronic device using the same are ideally adapted for an electronic notebook, electronic dictionary and the like with a reduced overall system power consumption. The single-chip microcomputer to which are connected externally connected devices any one of which can be selected by a chip select signal executes program instructions. The single-chip microcomputer has a chip select signal output terminal which makes active and outputs a chip select signal selecting one of the externally connected devices. The single-chip microcomputer further has standby state setting means which outputs a standby state setting signal temporarily halting the execution of program instructions and control means for changing said chip select signal which is active to be inactive based on the standby state setting signal from the standby state setting means.

  • Patent number: 5517661
Abstract: Disclosed are a single-chip micro-computer optimized for an electronic memorandum book, an electronic dictionary or the like by suppressing the increase of the number of terminals, and an electronic apparatus having therein the single-chip micro-computer. The single-chip micro-computer has: a mode setting register for establishing a mode setting signal for either a first mode for outputting a memory address signal or a second mode for outputting an arithmetic operation output stored in an output register on the basis of a control signal from a micro instruction generation circuit; and a selection circuit for outputting either the memory address signal or the arithmetic operation output to address signal terminals on the basis of the mode setting signal.

  • Patent number: 5426755
Abstract: A semiconductor device and an electronic apparatus with the semiconductor device incorporated therein, include a sense amplifier so that a storage device can be read at a high speed and at a low speed, whereby low power consumption may be realized driving low speed reading. When a high speed mode is set and a read instruction is given, the sense amplifier is driven to send out a signal of a bit line to a data bus through the sense amplifier, while when a low speed mode is set and a read instruction is given, a sense amplifier is brought into a non-driven state to send out a signal of a bit line to a data bus without going through the sense amplifier. The semiconductor device may also include a clock control circuit and a clock selection circuit for selecting a high frequency clock signal when the high speed mode is set and for selecting a low frequency clock signal when the low speed mode is set.

  • Patent number: 5323171
Abstract: A power source circuit consisting of a combination of a constant-voltage circuit (1) and a voltage raising/lowering circuit (2) which produces a plurality of output voltages by raising or lowering the output of the constant-voltage circuit. When a change in the power source voltage or the presence or absence of a heavy load is detected that information is supplied as a control mode signal to both the circuit (1) and circuit (2). For instance, when the power source voltage is reduced or when a heavy load is driven, the output voltage of the circuit (1) lowered and instead the rate of change in the output voltage of the circuit (2) is adjusted so that the output voltage may eventually become the same as in steady state.

  • Patent number: 5235520
Abstract: Disclosed is an integrated circuit which comprises: a constant voltage circuit including a reference voltage generator, a feedback amplifier, a differential amplifier having an input for receiving an output signal of the reference voltage generator as a reference signal and another input for receiving an output of the feedback amplifier as a negative feedback signal, and a monochannel output driver driven in accordance with an output of the differential amplifier; a circuit load connected to an output of the constant voltage circuit; and an MOS transistor connected in parallel to the circuit load and arranged so as to be driven when a heavy load is periodically driven.

  • Patent number: 5193198
Abstract: A battery-powered electronic system in which ICs of low and high voltage specifications can be operated simultaneously by a single low voltage power supply, wherein prolongation of battery life, miniaturization of the housing size and reduction of manufacturing costs are achieved. The present invention comprises a monolithically integrated charge pump circuit for boosting a power supply voltage so as to output a voltage greater than that of the power supply voltage, and a power supply multiplexor for selecting between the output of the charge pump circuit and the power supply voltage in accordance with a power supply select control signal. The output of the multiplexor is used as a supply voltage, for at least one other IC in the system. The voltage selection process is dynamically determined based on the time-varying requirements of system operation. A voltage regulation circuit may be used to provide control over the charge pump circuit output.
