  • Patent number: 5189404
Abstract: An information processing system comprises a display apparatus having a display screen which can be held in position of either vertical elongation or lateral elongation. The information processing system provides the operator with messages necessary for operation. By detecting the position of elongation of the display screen, data for the messages are selectively rotated so as to be always displayed uprightly on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 5181260
Abstract: Method for determining and correcting the amount of an skew of image which may be read by an image reader, preferably one with with an automatic paper feeding device. Information dependent on the angle of skew of image is obtained in a plurality of the directions with respect to image data and the amount of skew is determined based on the information obtained. Measurement of the information is performed in two or more stages (or steps). At the first stage, the measurement is performed within a narrow range of angles including a reference direction. If no skew angle is detected in the narrow range, then the measurement is performed again at the second stage in a wider range of angles. If a skew angle is detected in the first stage, the second stage is omitted. With the skew angle determined, the image data is rotated in accordance with the skew angle detected to cancel the skew. No correction of the image data is performed if skew angle detection does not result in either the first or the second stage.

  • Patent number: 5179649
Abstract: When image information of documents is stored in the image storage of an image filing device, the title information is entered for each document for easy retrieval of the image information after filing. For entry of the title information for each document into the image filing device, it is necessary to fill in title information in the title entry format, supply the title information entry format through the image input unit of the image filing device and to recognize the characters of the title information. This title information entry format is automatically designed and entered into the image storage by the operator who supplies the title information and file name by operating the keyboard of the image filing device. When the operator designates one of the plural title information entry formats entered for each file, the title information entry format thus designated is printed out by the image output unit of the image filing device.

  • Patent number: 5168533
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making document information search and a magnetic disk unit to be used for realizing the method and apparatus. In the document information search method, in performing document search with respect to a desired subject key word, two stages of presearch are carried out. In a first stage of presearch (step 402), a character component table (500) in which existence of character codes for every document is stated with respect to all the character codes contained in the group of document text data of stored documents is generated, and the character component table is searched for all the character codes constituting a desiredly designated search subject key word to thereby extract all the documents each containing all the character codes constituting the search subject key word.

  • Patent number: 5150458
Abstract: Original image information is stored electronically in a storage memory device. The original image information is transferred to a first buffer memory when the image information is to be edited. The editing image information is input through a keyboard and character generator, for example, and stored in a second buffer memory. Thus, the original and editing information are stored separately from each other. An image display control device reads out and combines the original and editing image information from the first and second buffer memories, respectively, to provide combined or resultant image information. A display device receives the resultant image information and displays the original and editing information differently so that the editing image information can be distinguished from the original image information on the display device.

  • Patent number: 5140644
Abstract: A compact character string retrieving system capable of producing correctly the result of matching without omission even upon occurrence of multiple matching in which a plurality of search terms are matched for one character string by a finite automation. A destination state for transition brought about by a trailing character of the search term is newly created instead of an initial state. A transition table storage stores the destination state. On the basis of the source state number and a specified pattern character code, the destination state number is read out from the state transition table storage. When the state number read out represents the destination state of the transition brought about by the trailing character of the specified pattern character string, an identifier thereof is outputted. The identifiers of the search terms matched are each represented by one bit information, and a group of corresponding flags is stored in one slot. Multiple matching can be performed without omission.

  • Patent number: 5125045
Abstract: An image processing system wherein for an inputted composite image composed of a line image and a dither image, both a line image processing and a dither image processing are carried out in parallel, and one of the processed results is selected in accordance with the image region discrimination result. The dither image processing is carried out through data conversion for calculating multivalued gray scale image from the inputted image data, grey scale data conversion for adjusting the gray scale image data so as to match an output device and obtaining such adjusted gray scale image data, and re-binarization for re-binarizing the gray scale image data after subjected to the grey scale conversion. The image region discrimination for discriminating if an image region is of a line image or a dither image is carried out based on a ratio of the number of black or white pixels within the region to the contour line length within the range.

  • Patent number: 5109272
Abstract: A method of superimposing and displaying a color image expressed by color code data and a color image expressed by three primary color dot data comprises the steps of converting the color code data into three primary color density data while converting the three primary color dot data into density data which are in the same form as the three primary color density data, and selectively displaying one of the two density data for each pixel on a display screen. Thus, two types of color image data, i.e., color code data and three primary color dot data are allowed to be handled in the same way and to be superimposed on a color display. This is useful in a color image filing system based on a workstation. In transferring the two types of color image data to a printer, the two image data are combined in memories and transferred to the printer as dot data through the existing printer interface.

  • Patent number: 5081449
Abstract: In image data display apparatus and method, code data stored in a memory is converted to image data, which is then cyclically stored into a plurality of image memories for displaying on a display as display data. Overrun of image screen which is caused by a difference between a recognition time and a response time of an operator when a continuous paging mode of the display for data retrieval is terminated is corrected by a hardware implemented circuit or a software implemented computer program so that a desired image screen is displayed.

  • Patent number: 4975977
Abstract: In an image data rotating system for applying rotation processing to input image data of a large picture plane, the image data is divided into rectangular small blocks and rotation processing is applied to the image data of each block. The rotation processing to the image data of each block is performed by first reducing in the x-axis direction and enlarging in the y-axis direction. Then the first oblique axis transformation is applied. Any error data between the real oblique axis and the image element found in the final raster of the corresponding region is held in a memory. Subsequently, the second oblique axis transformation in the y-axis direction is applied, and error data is held in similar manner. Error data held as the initial value for the rotation processing to the image data of the adjacent region block is used, thereby allowing the rotation of the image data of a large picture plane to an arbitrary angle to be executed at high speed.

  • Patent number: 4860114
Abstract: In an MR code expanding apparatus, a reference line processing circuit shifts reference line data bit-serially and at the same time, searches for a color changing point of the reference line data at seven successive picture element positions in parallel. An output data producing circuit produces, bit-serially and in synchronism with the shifting of the reference line data, expanded line data of each picture element corresponding to each reference line picture element arriving at the center of these seven picture element positions. A code analyzing circuit supplies the reference line processing circuit with a signal which designates one of these seven picture element positions at which the color changing point is to be detected. A signal which represents detection of the color changing point at the designated picture element position is used for controlling the state transition of the expanding operation.
