  • Patent number: 5438342
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display, in which flicker and cross talk are removed for arbitrary display patterns. The liquid crystal display has a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines, and a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix at the intersections of the scan and the data lines. The polarity of data signals outputted to the data lines is inverted for each occurrence of a pixel to be placed into a predetermined state. The predetermined state may be a dark state or a bright state of a binary display, or one of several levels of a display having more than two gray scale levels.

  • Patent number: 5253091
Abstract: A liquid crystal display and a method of operating the display. A plurality of row conductors and a plurality of column conductors control pixels arranged in a matrix of rows and columns. A driver circuit applies a first data signal to first column conductors and a second data signal to second column conductors. The first and second column conductors are adjacent alternate conductors in a row direction of the matrix. The polarity of the first and second data signals are opposite to each other. Pixels in a row may be connected to the same row conductor while pixels in each column are alternately connected, respectively, to one column conductor to which the first data signal is applied and to one column conductor to which the second data signal is applied. The pixels in each row may be alternately connected respectively to one of two adjacent row conductors.

  • Patent number: 5235448
Abstract: A thin film transistor liquid crystal display having different size pixels wherein the channel width of the thin film transistors is proportional to the area or capacitance of the pixel to thereby equalize punch-through voltage, write time and hold time for the pixels and to eliminate flicker.

  • Patent number: 5110783
Abstract: A catalyst is disclosed for hydrotreating heavy hydrocarbon oils, which catalyst comprises a catalyst component supported on an alumina carrier having an average fibrous particle length of 10-20 Nm and a specified proportion of fibrous alumina particle in that range of particle lengths. A process is also disclosed for preparing such hydrotreating catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4986637
Abstract: A color display comprised of red, green and blue picture elements is described. The picture elements are arranged to provide a substantial improvement in the monochromatic line quality of the display. Individual elements of a particular color are arranged to form the vertices of substantially square patterns within the color display. Within each of the substantially square patterns formed by the elements of a single color (e.g., red), the colors not disposed at the vertices (e.g., blue and green) are disposed along a diagonal of the substantially square pattern. In this manner, a series of substantially square patterns of alternating red, green and blue picture elements sharing common diagonals are arranged to form a complete color display.

  • Patent number: 4501996
Abstract: A deflection distortion correcting circuit for CRT display with interlaced scanning is disclosed, which correct concurrently both linearity of vertical deflection and pairing of horizontal interlaced scanning lines which is caused by variation in anode voltage. This can be achieved simply and easily by combining an adder with a conventional cubic curve linearity correction circuit to introduce a pairing correcting component related to the variation in anode voltage into the cubic curve linearity correction.
