  • Patent number: 5989150
Abstract: A friction roller is disposed in a full toroid groove formed by an an input disk and an output disk opposing each other, in contact with both the disks tiltably and rotatably. A roller supporting member for rotatably supporting the friction roller through bearings includes a rotary shaft portion having a ball joint at one end thereof, and the ball joint is rotatably held by a race joint and a cover joint formed at one end of a piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder constituting a driving mechanism. A lubricant spraying portion is fromed at the other end of the rotary shaft portion, and a lubricant is supplied to the lubricant spraying portion from a pressure chamber of the hydraulic cylinder through oil paths formed in the piston rod and the rotary shaft portion. The lubricant is sprayed from the lubricant spraying portion onto a contact surface of the friction roller with the disk, and onto the bearings to achieve lubrication and cooling.

  • Patent number: 5971886
Abstract: A toroidal-type continuously variable transmission includes two sets of input and output disks, each set including an input disk, an output disk, a power roller, a carrier rotatably supporting the power roller with a tilt and rotation axis of the power roller slanted, and a cylinder device for the carrier. The cylinder device is disposed orthogonal to an axis of rotation of the input and output disks, and a carrier shaft mounted to the carrier along the tilt and rotation axis and a piston rod of the cylinder device are coupled by a joint. The joints of the two sets of input and output disks are connected by a link, and an elastic members are interposed between the link and the two cylinder devices, and an angle of each carrier shaft with respect to the link is made variable by the joint.

  • Patent number: 5593364
Abstract: A shift control apparatus for an automatic transmission provides a normal-temperature shift pattern and a high-temperature shift pattern. The high-temperature shift pattern is selected when a temperature of hydraulic oil for the transmission satisfies a predetermined condition. Once the high-temperature shift pattern has been selected, the apparatus inhibits the switching to the high-temperature shift pattern for a predetermined duration, thereby to avoid an excessively frequent hunting between the shift patterns.

  • Patent number: 5556349
Abstract: A shift control apparatus for an automatic transmission provides a normal-temperature shift pattern and a high-temperature shift pattern. The high-temperature shift pattern is selected when a transmission fluid temperature satisfies a predetermined condition. The switching of the shift pattern is inhibited if the vehicle speed is lower than a predetermined speed, even when the temperature related to the transmission or engine has been judged to be higher than a predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 5551932
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed which prevents occurrence of an engine stalling in a power train of an automotive vehicle, including an engine and a lock-up type automatic transmission. The apparatus is operative during a braking operation of the vehicle and includes an engine controller to perform an idling speed control for the engine, and a transmission controller to perform a lock-up releasing control for releasing the torque converter from the lock-up mode. When the lock-up releasing control is being performed, the engine controller continuously performs the idling speed control and thereby prevents occurrence of engine stalling.

  • Patent number: 5030401
Abstract: A method for molding powders to form a shaped compact comprising the steps offorming a thin-wall resilient mold having an outer surface and having at least one opening adjacent a surface of a model of a desired shape, forming a mold support on the outer surface of the thin-wall resilient mold, so that the mold support adheres to the outer surface of the thin-walled resilient mold, removing the model from the thin-wall resilient mold whereby a cavity is formed in a portion of the thin-wall resilient mold, from which the model is removed, filling up the cavity of the thin-wall resilient mold with a powder as a forming material through the opening, sealing the opening of the thin-wall resilient mold after having evacuated air from the inside of the thin-wall resilient mold, removing the mold support from the thin-wall resilient mold, subjecting the thin-wall resilient mold filled with the powder to a cold isostatic press.

  • Patent number: 4554573
Abstract: A semiconductor device in which a silicon pellet is mounted on a ceramic substrate by means of a glass material of low melting point. To prevent the silicon pellet from being destroyed under thermal stress, the pellet is bonded to the glass material of low melting point through interposition of an adhesion reinforcing film such as an aluminum film capable of exhibiting a good wettability and a great bonding strength.

  • Patent number: 3998824
Abstract: In order to secure a metal element, such as, a pin or shaft, to a synthetic resin body so as to project from one surface of the latter, the body is formed with a hole extending from that one surface to the opposite surface of the body and preferably having a cross-sectional area smaller than that of a mounting portion at an end of the metal element, the metal element is inserted into the hole from that opposite surface, and the metal element is pressed in the axial direction of the hole toward the surface from which the metal element is to project so as to urge the mounting portion into the hole while softening the region of the body contacted by the mounting portion until the latter is contained in the hole and the metal element projects to the desired extent from the body, whereupon the body is allowed to harden at the region of its contact with the mounting portion.
