    Abstract: A magnetic disk storage device includes a magnetic disk having an annular data area for recording data, a drive for rotating the magnetic disk about the axis of the magnetic disk, a magnetic head for reading and writing data to and from the data area of the magnetic disk, and a transfer motor for moving the magnetic head when actuated. The magnetic disk further comprises an urging member and a locking member. The urging member forces the magnetic head, so as to move the magnetic head outside the data area. The locking member prevents the urging member from jarring the magnetic head when the transfer motor is actuated.
