  • Patent number: 8213284
Abstract: A recording apparatus performs recording on an optical disc recording medium which has a plurality of recording layers and is capable of having data rewritten thereon. The recording apparatus includes recording means for performing data recording on each recording layer of the recording medium and recording controlling means for controlling the recording means so that, among the plurality of recording layers, recording of dummy data is performed preferentially starting from a recording layer intended for the final user data recording operation.

  • Patent number: 7969845
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an optical recording apparatus which may record post pre-format recording information on an optical recording medium which has a guide portion formed in advance for guiding a light beam and a plurality of address portions for specifying individual positions of the guide portion, which may include position information detection means for detecting position information of a recording region in which significant information is recorded along the guide portion and a breakdown region which is part of the guide portion or/and the address portions and is broken down so as not to be detected using the light beam, servo means for controlling the position of the light beam based on the position information, and laser light intensity adjustment means for adjusting the intensity of the light beam in order to record information based on a predetermined format in the recording region and thermally break down the breakdown region.

  • Patent number: 5617264
Abstract: A method and apparatus of reproducing and recording data stored in a plurality of tracks of a memory. A recording and reproducing head reproduces data from at least one of a plurality of tracks of a disk-shaped recording medium. The reproduced data is stored in a memory and rewritten. Data is read out of the memory and controllably supplied to a recording operation of the recording and reproducing head so that data of every track read out from the memory is recorded on the disk-shaped recording medium. In a preferred embodiment, the reproduced data is stored, rewritten read out from the memory in response to an index signal representing a starting portion of a track and then recorded on a magnetic floppy disk.

  • Patent number: 5233296
Abstract: In a revolution detector of a drive motor of a disk drive, the rotor of the drive motor comprises a shell and a rotary magnet which is secured to the shell. A plurality of through holes of the detector, in which the rotary magnet is partially exposed, are provided at predetermined intervals in such positions of the shell as to give no influence to the magnetic circuit from which the output of the drive motor is derived, and the revolution characteristic of the drive motor is obtained by means of detecting the holes by a sensor in the detector, so that it becomes easier to manufacture the detector, and it is possible to detect the revolution of the drive motor with high accuracy without lowering the efficiency of the drive motor.
