  • Patent number: 4877664
Abstract: A sealed container material having a deoxidation function comprises a metallic base material reactive with oxygen and a hydrophilic coating layer of water-soluble polymer such as hydroxyethyl cellulose formed on the surface of the metallic base material. An oxygen- and moisture-permeable coating layer composed of a polymethylpentene resin may further be provided on the hydrophilic coating layer. The material exhibits an excellent oxygen absorbing ability and is thus suited as a material for sealed containers, such as cans, bottles, capsules, etc., for encasing food, drink, chemicals, and medical drugs and storing them over a long period of time without denaturation or deterioration.

  • Patent number: 4740402
Abstract: A sealed container material having a deoxidation function comprises a metallic base material reactive with oxygen and a hydrophilic coating layer of water-soluble polymer such as hydroxyethyl cellulose formed on the surface of the metallic base material. An oxygen- and moisture-permeable coating layer composed of a silicone resin or an olefin resin may further be provided on the hydrophilic coating layer. The material exhibits an excellent oxygen absorbing ability and is thus suited as a material for sealed containers, such as cans, bottles, capsules, etc., for encasing food, drink, chemicals, and medical drugs and storing them over a long period of time without denaturation or deterioration.

  • Patent number: 4584035
Abstract: The present invention relates to a steel sheet for use in the manufacture of an end for a so-called easy-to-open can, a score being formed on the end.An object of the present invention is to provide an improved steel sheet which can be used as such end instead of conventional aluminum and which can impart an easy-to-open property thereto. A steel sheet according to the present invention consists essentially of from 0.06% to 0.25% of C, and the balance being essentially Fe and unavoidable impurities, and the cementite particles formed in the steel sheet have an average diameter of from 0.05 .mu.m to 0.5 .mu.m. Since the cementite is fine, the can-opening force can be decreased and the formability of the can end is excellent even at a high strength of the steel sheet. The present invention also provides an end made of the above-mentioned steel sheet and a process comprising the steps of hot-rolling the steel at an austenite temperature range, cooling a formed steel strip at a cooling rate of 30.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4370387
Abstract: A precoated steel sheet and a process for production thereof is provided which comprises coating a resin composition comprising mainly an acryloxyloxy- or methacryloyloxy-terminated polyester on the surface of a steel sheet, said acryloyloxy- or methacryloyloxy-terminated polyester being prepared by reacting a hydroxy-terminated polyester comprising (a) a dicarboxylic acid unit containing about 10 to about 80 mol % of a terephthalic acid unit and (b) dihydric alcohol unit containing about 30 mol % or more of a dihydric alcohol unit containing 3 or more carbon atoms, and having a number average molecular weight of about 400 to about 5,000, with acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, and curing the thus-coated resin composition by irradiating the sheet with an electron beam.

  • Patent number: 4235947
Abstract: A complex film is formed on a steel sheet by coating thereto an aqueous solution of ammonium phosphate, ammonium molybdate, nickel aceptate, etc., heating the same and further coating a lubrication oil containing an animal or vegetable oil or fat or a mineral oil with a high molecular compound and a higher fatty acid, whereby a steel sheet showing excellent lubricity in ironing is given. The effect can be improved by adding cobalt, nickel, chrome salts to the aqueous solutions.

  • Patent number: 4035248
Abstract: A method for treating the surface of a steel sheet adapted for use in making a container or can is provided. A nickel-defused layer is first formed while recrystallization annealing is conducted, upon which layer a film of chromium is plated after temper rolling or double cold rolling. The good lacquer adhesion property of the Cr layer and the good formability of the Ni layer will synergetically act so as to give an excellent anti-corrosion property to a material for cans.
