  • Patent number: 7083253
Abstract: In such a manner that ink in each of a plurality of pressure chambers for holding the ink therein is brought to a positive pressure state of being ejected from respective nozzles respectively communicating with the respective chambers to the outside of each of the pressure chambers, a cleaning member abutted against a nozzle plate formed with a plurality of nozzles is moved along the nozzles in a state in which pressure is applied to all of the pressure chambers, to thereby extrude foreign particles outside the pressure chambers by the ink ejected from the respective nozzles to the outside of the pressure chambers, thereby making it possible to recover the ink, whereby the occurrence of a delivery failure due to the foreign particles around the nozzles being absorbed into the pressure chambers, can be prevented, and the foreign particles contained in the ink can be purged without consuming much ink needlessly.

  • Publication number: 20040189735
Abstract: An ink jet head cleaning apparatus of the present invention comprises a flexible contact member and a driving unit. The flexible contact member is mounted in a position where its top end comes into contact with a nozzle face of an ink jet head having the nozzle face provided with outlets for discharging ink in a form of droplets, and is movable along the nozzle face. On the other hand, the driving unit functions to correlatively move the ink jet head and the contact member. The top end of the contact member is divided into a plurality of sections in a direction orthogonal to the direction of its movement. Thus, a foreign substance holding on the nozzle face can be removed completely from the nozzle face by means of the wipe blade. Furthermore, the growth of the foreign substance can be restrained. It is therefore possible to prevent deterioration of ink discharge stability and straight discharge of ink.

  • Patent number: 4983057
Abstract: In a ribbon position selecting device for a printer which includes a step motor for driving a ribbon base retaining a ribbon cassette to locate a ribbon at a predetermined position, the present invention comprises a stopper for determining a reference position of the ribbon cassette, and a power transmitting mechanism for transmitting power of the step motor to the ribbon base. The power transmitting mechanism comprises a torque limiter and a one-way clutch. When the ribbon cassette is brought into abutment against the stopper, the step motor is rotated without step out owing to the torque limiter to prevent deviation in phase at the stop position. In contrast, when the ribbon cassette is driven to separate from the stopper, slipping in the power transmitting mechanism is eliminated by the one-way clutch to secure feeding of the ribbon cassette, thereby eliminating the possibility of mixing of colors.

  • Patent number: 4693619
Abstract: A positioning device for a printer for driving a ribbon base on which a ribbon cassette is carried by means of a stepping motor to position a ribbon to any of predetermined shift positions. The device includes a stopper for defining a home position of the ribbon cassette, and a power transmitting mechanism for transmitting a power of the stepping motor to the ribbon base. The power transmitting mechanism includes therein a torque limiter which yields a slip therein when a torque lower than a pull-out torque of the stepping motor is applied thereto. Accordingly, when the ribbon cassette is abutted with the stopper, the stepping motor is allowed to continue rotation thereof without stepping out by the torque limiter, thereby preventing an out-of-phase condition of the stepping motor at a stopped position thereof. Consequently, upon subsequent operation, the ribbon cassette can be shifted accurately, and hence color mixture in printing can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4437775
Abstract: In this invention, the rear ends of the printing needles are bent and prevented from being pulled out by being embedded in needle caps. The needle caps are flat, and the longitudinal directions of the cross-sections of the needle caps are coincident with the radial direction of the printer. The rear ends of the needles are arranged in annular form. Each needle cap is slidably held by a guide body. Lateral displacement of the needles is prevented, and the contacting area between the needle caps and an armature of an electromagnet is reduced. A ring connecting the rear ends of the needles is reduced in size, providing a margin at both sides of the needle cap and armature. The bending amount of the needle is reduced, and the sliding resistance of the needle is reduced, which improves the durability of the needles and the needle guides. Also a small armature may be used, thereby saving on the consumption of power in that an electromagnet of small capacity may be used.
