    Abstract: A detector for detecting the load applied to a passenger seat of an automobile equipped with an air bag. The load detector includes a sensor bracket having a deformation portion that deforms in accordance with the amount of the load. A strain sensor is arranged on the deformation portion to detect the degree of deformation of the deformation portion. A force limiter bracket is located adjacent to the sensor bracket to limit deformation of the deformation portion within a predetermined range. An anchor bracket is formed integrally with the force limiter bracket and is connected to a seat belt.

    Abstract: A driving arm (5) that is connected directly to an output shaft (4) of an electric motor (3) is connected to a mirror housing (8) through a ball joint (10). On the other hand, a driven arm (6) is connected to the mirror housing (8) through a connection device (11) having two orthogonally intersecting shafts (12, 14). The both arms (5, 6) are disposed in parallel with each other with a level difference being provided therebetween. As a result, the under view mirror is held in an attitude preferable for the stored position thereof and held in an attitude preferable for the use position thereof, when it is moved to the use position.

The operating mechanism includes a guide rail for being fixed on the rear portion of the vehicle, a first link slidably supported on the guide rail and connected with the mirror structure, and a second link connected to one of the mirror structure and the first link. The apparatus also includes a driving device connected to the operating mechanism for driving the operating mechanism.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a retractable rear under view mirror system for an automotive vehicle having a rear door mounted on a vehicle body and hinged at a rear upper portion thereof. There is provided rearward of the automotive vehicle, a deflector which is mounted on the rear door at its upper portion and on which a recess is formed. A mirror assembly is movably supported by the deflector, and selectively positionable from a retracted position to an extended position. A motor is provided for actuating the mirror assembly to be positioned in the retracted position or the extended position. The motor is controlled by an controller in response to an output of a detector for detecting a state of the rear door which is positionable in its open state and its closed state. Consequently, the mirror assembly is moved to a position responsive to the state of the rear door, such that the mirror assembly is automatically retracted when the rear door is closed.

There is provided an interconnecting motion transmitting mechanism between the arm member and the mirror assembly for moving the mirror assembly with the arm member so that the mirror assembly is moved to an operative position wherein the mirror member is projected sidewardly with respect to the vehicle body when the arm member is moved to the operative position and a retracted position wherein the mirror member is positioned close to the vehicle body when the arm member is moved to the retracted position.

The arrangement controls relative rotation between a fixed element and a rotational element which are drivingly connected by a drive unit. That is, a first clutch is released when a relative torque not less than a fixed first torque is effected between the fixed element and the rotational element. A second clutch is released when a relative torque not less than a fixed second torque is applied between the fixed element and the rotational element. A first spring is operatively connected with the first clutch to determine the first torque. A second spring is operatively connected with the second clutch to determine the second torque.
